Introduction

This document explains how to use the Machine Translation service and helps you quickly find the information you need.

Activate the service

1. Go to the Alibaba Cloud homepage. In the navigation bar, choose Products > Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning > Machine Translation. On the Machine Translation page, click the Activate Now button to open the console.

2. Select the product you want to activate and click Activate Now.

The console provides three products: Universal Translation Engine, Professional Translation Engine, and Custom-Trained Model. This example uses the Universal Translation Engine.

3. Select the product you want to use and purchase a resource plan.

Available products include Universal Translation Engine, Professional Translation Engine, and Custom-Trained Model. Click Purchase Resource Plan at the bottom of the corresponding product card.

4. Purchase a resource plan. The unit price is lower for larger plans.

On the resource plan purchase page, select the Resource Plan Type (Machine Translation Universal Edition or Machine Translation Professional Edition), Traffic Plan Specification, and Purchase Duration. Confirm the fee and click Buy Now.

5. Test your API calls on the API debugging page.

In the left-side navigation pane, click API Test, select the Engine (such as Machine Translation Universal Engine), Domain (such as Universal Translation), and Language Pair (such as English (en) → Chinese (zh)). Enter test content in the Source Text area and click Translate to view the translation result. The blue notice bar at the top of the page indicates: API testing will consume your free usage quota.
