Publish an image product
To sell your image product on the Alibaba Cloud Marketplace, you must first publish it. This topic describes how to publish an image product.
Step 1: Prepare the image content
The Alibaba Cloud Marketplace protects image products. You cannot buy an image, repackage it, and sell it as a new product. As the service provider, you must deploy the image content.
Log on to the ECS console.
Create an ECS instance. For more information, see Create an instance.
On the ECS instance, deploy the runtime environment or application that you want to sell as a product.
NoteIf your image needs a startup script, deploy it to the ECS instance before you create the custom image. The custom image will then include the script.
Step 2: Create a custom image
There are many ways to create a custom image. For more information, see Create a custom image. This topic describes how to create a custom image from an instance.
Log on to the ECS console.
In the navigation pane on the left, choose Instances & Images > Instances.
In the upper-left corner of the top menu bar, select a region.
Find the target instance. In the Actions column, click More > Disk and Image > Create Custom Image.
Enter an image name and description.
Click Create.
For commercial software that requires a license, use the instance identity feature to create your image. Instance identity is part of the instance metadata. It helps you identify and distinguish between ECS instances. This provides a trusted foundation for application access control and software activation. All instance identity information is generated in real time and changes dynamically with the instance. The signing mechanism uses secure and reliable PKCS#7 encryption. It also supports custom signatures to prevent unauthorized use. For more information, see Use instance identity.
Step 3: Publish the image product
Log on to the Alibaba Cloud Marketplace Service Provider Console.
In the navigation pane on the left, choose .
Click Publish Product.
On the Integration Information page, follow the configuration wizard to enter the integration information.

You can select one or both billing methods.
NoteThe actual billing for an image product is consistent with the billing for the ECS instance that the user purchases. Therefore, if you do not configure subscription billing, your image cannot be used with subscription-based ECS instances.

Step 4: Review the image product
After you submit the image product, the system automatically creates an image machine and copies your image.
The Alibaba Cloud Marketplace security team conducts a security review of the product. The security team rejects products with security issues and returns them to you for modification and resubmission.
After the product passes the security review, the image is synchronized to the publishing regions you selected in the integration information. To add more publishing regions after the product is listed, contact the Alibaba Cloud Marketplace operations team.
Finally, the operations team reviews the product category. If the product passes the review, it is listed. If the review fails, the product is returned to you for modification and must undergo the category review again.
