Integrating a Software as a Service (SaaS) product with Alibaba Cloud Marketplace lets you sell your SaaS product on the marketplace. Alibaba Cloud Marketplace supports multiple methods to notify you about provisioning SaaS instances.

Instance provisioning is a key part of the integration process for SaaS products. After a user completes a transaction on Alibaba Cloud Marketplace, the marketplace notifies the Independent Software Vendor (ISV) to provision an instance for the user. To do this, the marketplace sends the order information to the ISV using either proactive notifications through a Service Provider Interface (SPI) or activation codes.

Proactive notifications through SPI

The proactive notification method is suitable for products that are activated immediately after a user makes a purchase.

If you use the proactive notification method, you must develop an SPI based on the specifications provided by Alibaba Cloud Marketplace. When you publish the product, provide the provisioning URL for the interface. After a user completes an action, such as a purchase or renewal, Alibaba Cloud Marketplace calls your provisioning URL to notify you to perform the action. After the action is complete, your service sends the relevant information back to Alibaba Cloud Marketplace. For more information, see Introduction to delivery through proactive SPI notifications.

Activation code method

The activation code method is suitable for products that require users to register and activate on the product's official website after purchase.

If you use the activation code method, you must develop an activation page. When you publish the product, provide the URL for this page. Alibaba Cloud Marketplace generates an activation code for each purchased application and displays the code on the user's console page. After a user obtains the activation code, they are redirected to your activation page to enter the code. The ISV then calls the Alibaba Cloud Marketplace query and validation APIs to verify the code and activate the application for the user.
