1. How can I buy an Alibaba Cloud Marketplace image for my existing ECS instance without paying for a new instance?

You can replace the system disk of your existing instance with an image from the Alibaba Cloud Marketplace. Before you change the operating system, create a snapshot backup of your system disk to protect your data. For more information, see Replace the operating system of an instance.

Note:

If your ECS instance uses a paid image from Alibaba Cloud Marketplace, do not replace the operating system while the image license is still active. If you replace the paid image, you cannot later re-associate it with any ECS instance for free. If you switch back to the same image, you must pay the current price. To inquire about a refund for the original image, contact the service provider.

2. Setting or canceling auto-renewal for image products

The renewal settings for subscription images from Alibaba Cloud Marketplace are linked to the settings of their associated ECS instances. When you enable or disable auto-renewal for an ECS instance, the auto-renewal setting for the image is updated accordingly. For more information, see Auto-renewal.

3. Can I still use a subscription image from Alibaba Cloud Marketplace after it expires?

The expiration date and renewal period for a subscription image from Alibaba Cloud Marketplace are the same as those of its associated ECS instance. When you renew the ECS instance, the image is also renewed. For more information, see How to renew a subscription instance.
