Before using MaxCompute, prepare an Alibaba Cloud account. This topic describes how to create an Alibaba Cloud account and complete related preparations.
Step 1: Register an Alibaba Cloud account
-
Go to the Alibaba Cloud official website .
-
In the upper-right corner of the Alibaba Cloud official website, click Logon/Register .
-
On the Account Registration page, follow the on-screen instructions to complete account registration.
The Alibaba Cloud account you create serves as the resource consumption account recognized by Alibaba Cloud and has full permissions for this account.
ImportantTo protect your account and password, do not share them with others and update your password regularly.
Step 2: Alibaba Cloud accountidentity verification
To ensure smooth operations later, you must complete identity verification . You must complete identity verification before you can purchase and use Alibaba Cloud products.
-
Go to the Account Management page.
-
In the navigation pane on the left, click Personal Identity Information , and follow the on-screen instructions to complete identity verification .
If you are an enterprise user, we recommend that you verify your identity as an enterprise account to access more features. For more information about identity verification, see Identity verification.
Step 3: Create an AccessKey pair
To ensure that your jobs run smoothly later, create an AccessKey. This key differs from the username and password you set when registering your Alibaba Cloud account. It is primarily used to authenticate permissions across Alibaba Cloud services. An AccessKey consists of an AccessKey ID and an AccessKey secret.
-
Go to the AccessKey page. After reading the notes in the We do not recommend that you use the AccessKey of a cloud account dialog box, check I understand the security risk of using the AccessKey of a cloud account, and then click Continue Using the AccessKey of a Cloud Account.
-
On the AccessKey page, click Create AccessKey.
-
After reading the security notice in the Create AccessKey for Cloud Account dialog box, check I understand the security risk of using the AccessKey of a cloud account, and then click Continue Using the AccessKey of a Cloud Account. The system automatically creates an AccessKey.
-
In the Create AccessKey dialog box, click Download CSV File or Copy to save your AccessKey ID and AccessKey secret. Then check I have saved the AccessKey secret, and finally click OK.
To improve AccessKey security, configure a network access control policy to restrict the source IP addresses of API requests that use permanent AccessKeys. This ensures that AccessKey calls originate only from trusted networks. Identify the network environment where you plan to use the AccessKey, and then click Configure Network Access Policy to set up the policy. For more information, see Configure network access control policies for root account AccessKeys.
You can also view the status of existing AccessKeys on the AccessKey page and disable or delete them as needed.
Important-
To protect your AccessKey ID and AccessKey secret, do not share them with others. If a leak is suspected, disable or rotate your AccessKey immediately.
-
AccessKey IDs and AccessKey secrets are displayed only when you create an AccessKey. They cannot be retrieved later. Store them securely.
-
After you disable an AccessKey, services that use it will fail and return errors. Proceed with caution. Monitor products and services that use the AccessKey if its status changes.
-
Each account can have up to five AccessKeys.

If you want to allow other people to use MaxCompute, create RAM users for secure management. For more information about creating RAM users, see Prepare RAM users.
-
If only you will use MaxCompute, activate MaxCompute. For more information about activating MaxCompute, see Activate MaxCompute.
NoteWe recommend that you create a RAM user and use MaxCompute through the RAM user. This simplifies permission management as your business grows.
