Subscription Standard Edition
This topic describes the resources and billing rules for the subscription Standard Edition. It also provides usage instructions and important notes.
Resource description
The resource specifications for the subscription Standard Edition are as follows:
Basic resources | Description | Billing description |
Reserved computing resources | Required resource. The resource pool is Dedicated. Fixed resources are allocated based on the purchased amount of compute units (CUs). Note
| You can purchase CUs when you activate MaxCompute. The minimum purchase is 50 CUs. For more information about the billing rules, see Compute costs (subscription). |
Notes
Before you purchase subscription resources, you must first activate the pay-as-you-go Standard Edition service in the same region. This service is required for resources such as storage and download.
Each Alibaba Cloud account can purchase multiple subscription Standard Edition compute resource specifications, also known as top-level quotas, in each region. Resources from different top-level quotas are independent and cannot be shared.
NoteAn authorized Resource Access Management (RAM) user is considered part of the associated Alibaba Cloud account. For more information about how to grant permissions, see Grant permissions to a RAM user.
Subscription and pay-as-you-go are independent billing methods. When you switch an existing project to use subscription resources, you must change the project's billing method. For more information, see Switch between pay-as-you-go and subscription billing methods.
Usage instructions
To activate the subscription Standard Edition, see Activate MaxCompute.
After you activate subscription Standard Edition compute resources:
When you create a project in the region where the service is activated, you can select the subscription compute resources as the default compute resources for the project. Alternatively, you can use quota management to configure usage rules or specify a subscription compute quota when you submit a job. For more information, see Use compute resources (quotas).
If you find that the number of purchased CUs is insufficient or that too many CUs are idle, you can increase or decrease the number of CUs. For example:
Account A purchases 100 CUs of the subscription Standard Edition in the China (Hangzhou) region. This provides Account A with a fixed compute resource pool of 100 CUs in the China (Hangzhou) region.
When a project in the China (Hangzhou) region is configured to use subscription resources, its compute jobs run in the fixed 100 CU resource pool by default.
If a compute job uses less than 100 CUs, some CUs are idle. If a compute job requires more than 100 CUs, it can use a maximum of 100 CUs, and the job running time increases. For more information about how to increase or decrease the number of CUs, see Upgrade and downgrade.
You can use the MaxCompute console to manage subscription compute resources, monitor system status, allocate resource groups, and monitor jobs. For more information, see Manage compute resources (quotas).
