MaxCompute provides data warehouse capabilities. You can integrate MaxCompute with other Alibaba Cloud products to build business solutions. These integrations support visual development, data storage, data migration, machine learning, and business decision-making. This topic describes the Alibaba Cloud products that integrate with MaxCompute.

MaxCompute integrates with the following Alibaba Cloud products.

Alibaba Cloud product

Description

DataWorks

DataWorks is a one-stop platform for the offline processing and analysis of massive data. It is built on MaxCompute and provides visual development and managed scheduling for workflows. You can think of DataWorks as a web client for MaxCompute, and MaxCompute as a compute engine for DataWorks.

MaxCompute and DataWorks provide comprehensive capabilities for extract, transform, and load (ETL), data analytics, Data Map, data governance, and data warehouse management. They support multiple classic distributed computing models, such as SQL, MapReduce, and Graph. This combination helps you solve massive data computing problems faster, reduce enterprise costs, and ensure data security.

Data integration

The data integration feature lets you load data into MaxCompute from various data sources, such as MySQL databases. You can also use this feature to export data from MaxCompute to various business databases.

The data integration feature is integrated into DataWorks. You can directly configure a MaxCompute data source and read data from or write data to MaxCompute tables in DataWorks. For more information about these operations, see Configure a MaxCompute data source, Read data from a MaxCompute table, and Write data to a MaxCompute table.

Platform for AI

Platform for AI is a machine learning algorithm platform built on MaxCompute. It provides a one-stop machine learning solution that covers data processing, model training, service deployment, and prediction without requiring data migration. After you create a MaxCompute project and activate the machine learning service, you can use the algorithm components of the PAI platform to perform operations such as model training on MaxCompute data.

Hologres

Hologres is a one-stop real-time data warehouse engine. It supports real-time data writes, updates, and analysis of massive data. Hologres supports standard SQL and is compatible with the PostgreSQL protocol. It also supports online analytical processing (OLAP) and ad hoc analysis for petabyte-scale data, and online data services with high concurrency and low latency. Hologres is deeply integrated with MaxCompute to provide a full-stack, integrated solution for offline and real-time data warehouses. Quick BI

Quick BI is a next-generation intelligent business intelligence (BI) service platform designed for cloud users. After you process data in MaxCompute, you can add your MaxCompute project as a Quick BI data source. Then, you can create reports in Quick BI to perform visual analytics on your MaxCompute table data.

AnalyticDB for MySQL

AnalyticDB for MySQL is a cloud computing service for high-concurrency, real-time online analytical processing (OLAP) of massive data. It is used with MaxCompute in big data-driven business scenarios. You can use MaxCompute for offline computing and data mining to generate high-quality data. Then, you can import the data into AnalyticDB for MySQL for analysis by business systems.

AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL

AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL provides complete transaction processing, high-throughput writes, and unified stream and batch analytics. It offers high-performance data processing and online analysis capabilities and is used with MaxCompute in big data-driven business scenarios. You can use MaxCompute for offline computing and data mining to generate high-quality data. Then, you can import the data into AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL for analysis by business systems.

Tablestore

Tablestore is a distributed NoSQL data storage service built on the Apsara Distributed File System of Alibaba Cloud. MaxCompute V2.0 can directly access and process data in Tablestore tables using foreign tables. For more information, see Tablestore foreign tables.

Object Storage Service (OSS)

Object Storage Service (OSS) is a secure, cost-effective, and highly reliable cloud storage service for massive data. MaxCompute V2.0 can directly access and process data in OSS using foreign tables. For more information, see OSS foreign tables.

OpenSearch

OpenSearch is a large-scale distributed search engine platform developed by Alibaba Cloud. After you process data in MaxCompute, you can add MaxCompute as a data source in OpenSearch to ingest the data. For more information, see Configure a MaxCompute data source.

Mobile Analytics: Quick A+ Digital Analytics

Quick A+ Digital Analytics is a product launched by Alibaba Cloud for mobile app data statistics and analysis. It provides a one-stop data-driven operations service for developers. If the basic analysis reports provided by Quick A+ Digital Analytics do not meet your custom requirements, you can synchronize data to MaxCompute with a single click. Then, you can further process and analyze the data based on your business needs.

Simple Log Service (SLS)

Simple Log Service (SLS) can quickly perform operations on log data, such as data collection, consumption, delivery, query, and analysis. If you need more custom analysis and data mining after log data is collected, you can use the data integration feature of DataWorks to synchronize log data to MaxCompute. Then, you can use MaxCompute to perform custom and in-depth analysis and mining on the log data.

Resource Access Management (RAM)

Resource Access Management (RAM) is an Alibaba Cloud service for identity management and access control. MaxCompute integrates with RAM in two main scenarios:

  • Manage RAM users when you use MaxCompute with DataWorks.

    After you use your Alibaba Cloud account to activate MaxCompute and create a project, if you want to use MaxCompute with DataWorks for collaborative development among multiple accounts, you must use your Alibaba Cloud account to create RAM users in the RAM console. Then, you can add the RAM users as members to the workspace for collaborative development. For more information, see Create a RAM user and Add members to a workspace.

  • Authorize access to unstructured data through RAM when MaxCompute processes the data.

    MaxCompute supports direct processing of unstructured data, such as data in OSS and Tablestore. However, you must first grant MaxCompute permissions in RAM to access OSS or Tablestore. For more information, see OSS foreign tables and Tablestore foreign tables.

Supported character sets of Alibaba Cloud products

When you use MaxCompute with other Alibaba Cloud products, you must pay attention to the character set formats. Ensure that the formats meet the character set requirements of MaxCompute to prevent service failures caused by unsupported character sets.
