Upgrade or downgrade compute resources
Scale your MaxCompute subscription compute units (CUs) up or down to match changing workload demands.
Specifications
MaxCompute subscription specifications include standard computing resources, the Storage-intensive 160 package, the Storage-intensive 320 package, and the Storage-intensive 600 package. The following table lists the specifications supported in different regions.

The Storage-intensive 160 package, Storage-intensive 320 package, Storage-intensive 600 package, and non-reserved computing resources were discontinued at 00:00:00 on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 (UTC+8). For more information, see the announcement.
Upgrade and downgrade instructions
The following table describes how to upgrade or downgrade between MaxCompute subscription specifications.

Prerequisites
A MaxCompute subscription with at least one quota
Upgrade CUs
Increase compute capacity by adding CUs to your subscription quota.
Log in to the MaxCompute console and select a region in the upper-left corner.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
On the Quotas page, find the target quota. In the Actions column, click the More icon (...) and select Upgrade.
On the Upgrade/Downgrade page, specify the number of CUs for the upgrade, then click Buy Now.
The upgrade fee is prorated based on the remaining subscription period:
Upgrade order price = (Monthly price of the new configuration / 30 / 24 × Remaining duration) - (Monthly price of the old configuration / 30 / 24 × Remaining duration)NoteRemaining duration is the time in hours from the upgrade date to the instance expiration date. Periods shorter than one hour are calculated as minutes / 60.
On the Pay page, confirm the order details and click Subscribe to complete the upgrade.
After the upgrade completes, the additional CUs are automatically added to the Default Quota. To redistribute them, see Manage compute resources and quotas.

Downgrade CUs
Reduce compute capacity by removing CUs from your subscription quota.
Log in to the MaxCompute console and select a region in the upper-left corner.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
On the Quotas page, find the target quota. In the Actions column, click the More icon (...) and select Downgrade.
On the Downgrade page, specify the number of CUs you need, then click Buy Now.

A downgrade directly deducts CUs from the Default Quota. Before you downgrade, use the MaxCompute console to decrease or delete the minimum value of a custom quota. This ensures that the minimum value of the default quota is at least (the number of CUs to be downgraded) + 1. For more information, see Configure Quotas.
If you downgrade immediately after an upgrade, you may receive a smaller refund for the following two reasons:
The previous order had a discount. For example, a one-year subscription has a 15% discount. If the original price is 1,000 CNY, the actual payment is 850 CNY. The refund for the downgrade is calculated based on 850 CNY.
A coupon was used for the previous order. When you downgrade, the refund for the old configuration only includes the cash amount, not the coupon amount.
