This topic describes how to activate Alibaba Cloud Model Studio.
Activate the large model service
Log on to your Alibaba Cloud account and go to the Alibaba Cloud Model Studio console.
In Model Square or App Square, activate the model call service. You must activate this service to test models in the Playground, call models, or try out applications.
Follow these steps to activate the service:
Click Activate Now. Select the checkbox to agree to the terms and click Confirm Activation. Wait for a success message to appear.
Service activation notes
To use Alibaba Cloud Model Studio, you must activate the Model Studio - Model Inference, Model Studio - Model Deployment, and Model Studio - Model Training services, and create an API key for model calls.
Large model services are billed based on usage. You must activate the Model Studio - Model Inference, Model Studio - Model Training, and Model Studio - Model Deployment services. After activation, you can call any model in Model Square. You can also train supported models and deploy them to dedicated instances. You are not charged for services that you do not use. Billing is based on the model's unit price and your usage.
The currently billable models are listed in the console. New billable models are automatically added to your activated services and do not require separate activation.
Announcements about new or modified model billing are posted in the console. Before you call a model, check its unit price and billing specifications.
After you activate the services, you will receive three text messages confirming the activation of the Model Studio - Model Inference, Model Studio - Model Deployment, and Model Studio - Model Training services.

1. Can a RAM user activate Alibaba Cloud Model Studio?
A: Yes. To allow a RAM user to activate Alibaba Cloud Model Studio, grant the "AliyunSFMFullAccess" permission to the RAM user. For more information, see Use and authorize RAM users.
2. How can I isolate data between different lines of business?
A: You can use your root account to grant different workspace permissions to different RAM users. Data in different workspaces is isolated. For more information, see Workspace management.
3. What are the billing methods for Alibaba Cloud Model Studio?
A: Alibaba Cloud Model Studio supports both pay-as-you-go and subscription billing methods.
4. How do I request an invoice for my charges?
A: Log on to the Expenses and Costs console, go to the Invoice Management page, and click the Request Invoice tab. You can then request an invoice.
5. What should I do if I see the message "Your account balance is less than 0. Please top up your account before purchasing" during service activation?
A: To activate the service, your Alibaba Cloud account balance must be 0 or greater.
6. Will I receive a text message notification after activating the service?
A: Yes, you will. You will receive three text messages confirming the service activation. The figure below shows an example of the message content.
