Memory observation
View conversations and their associated memory changes in the console to trace the extraction and updating of factual memories, user profiles, and skill memories.
When to use memory observation
Use memory observation to check which memories a conversation produced or how a conversation updated existing memories. The page displays conversation messages alongside associated changes, so you can compare extraction results with the original conversation.
To query a memory's changes within a selected time range, including manual edits, disabling, restoring, and deletion, use Memory audit.
Prerequisites
- Have an available memory library and complete memory extraction from a conversation. You can generate memories through a Playground conversation. See Create a memory and Configure memory rules.
- Open the workspace in which the memories were generated.
When using Playground, select the memory library and rules before sending a message. The experience consumes free quota or incurs pay-as-you-go charges. See Billing.
NoteMemory extraction is asynchronous. After the conversation response finishes, wait for extraction to complete, then check observation records and memory details to confirm what was saved. The steps below use labels from the Chinese-language console.
View conversations and memory changes
- Open the Bailian console. Under Memory, select 观测与审计 > 记忆观测 (observation and audit > memory observation).
- Select a memory library at the top of the page. The default is 全部记忆库 (all memory libraries). Select a specific library to narrow the scope.
- Select 最近7天, 最近30天, or 最近90天 (the last 7, 30, or 90 days). To reload records, click the refresh icon to the right of the time filter.
- Select a conversation in 会话列表 (conversation list) on the left. Each entry shows the memory entity, conversation summary, time, and number of associated memory changes. Different conversations for the same entity appear separately.
- Compare the user and assistant messages in the center with 记忆变更历史 (memory change history) on the right. Use the message navigation buttons to jump to a message.
- Find a change and click 查看详情 (view details) to inspect its memory content.
The change history displays the following information:
| Information | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Time | Identify when the memory changed |
| ID | Locate the associated record |
| Memory type | Distinguish factual memories, profile memories, and skill memories; profile memories correspond to user profiles |
| Event | Identify operations such as addition or update |
| Content | Inspect the associated memory content; skill memories show a skill name and description |
Interpret observation results
- Check extraction by conversation: For example, compare a user's drink preference in a conversation with the resulting factual memory and user-profile additions. If a later conversation changes that preference, inspect the updates associated with the later conversation.
- Distinguish historical and current content: Change details in observation show the content associated with that change. If the memory is edited or deleted later, an earlier conversation's historical content may differ from its current state. Check current content in the memory details described in Manage memories.
- Check actual extraction results: An assistant response may include information that was not saved as memory. Use memory details and change records to confirm what was actually saved or updated.
- Trace manual operations: A conversation's change history does not include every manual operation on that entity. To inspect those operations, open Memory audit and filter by entity or memory ID.
If expected records are missing
If the page displays 暂无数据 (no data), check that the workspace, library, and time range match those in which the memories were generated. If the conversation has just finished, wait for extraction to complete and refresh.
If conversations exist but none is selected, select one on the left to view its messages and change history. To confirm whether a memory currently exists, open the library's 记忆详情 (memory details) tab and inspect the corresponding entity.
