Billing for the backup feature

The backup feature provides a free quota for backup storage. You are charged on a pay-as-you-go basis for backup storage usage that exceeds the free quota. For a cloud disk instance, you are charged if the backup storage usage exceeds 200% of the instance storage space. For a local disk instance, you are charged if the backup storage usage exceeds 50% of the instance storage space. For more information, see Pricing.

Support for MongoDB 5.0

MongoDB 5.0 introduces a new release cycle to deliver features to users faster. Key new features include:

  • Native time series platform: Enables MongoDB to support a wider range of workloads and business scenarios.

  • Online resharding: Simply run the reshardCollection command in the MongoDB Shell, select the database and collection to reshard, and specify the new shard key.

  • Versioned API: Lets you use the latest features of MongoDB faster and more easily.

  • The default Write Concern level is Majority: This provides stronger data reliability.

  • Long-running snapshot queries: Increase application versatility and resilience.

  • The new MongoDB Shell: Introduces syntax highlighting, smart autocompletion, contextual help, and useful error messages for an intuitive and interactive experience.

  • Release versioning changes: Starting from MongoDB 5.0, MongoDB releases are divided into Major Releases and Rapid Releases. Rapid Releases are development versions that are available for download and testing, but are not recommended for use in production environments.

  • Value-added management capabilities include high availability, elastic scaling, automatic backup and recovery, fine-grained monitoring and alerting, and intelligent diagnostics, analysis, and assisted optimization.
