Billable items

MPS billing includes video and audio transcoding fees, video and audio enhancement fees, and video AI fees. The figure below shows the breakdown. Detailed descriptions are in Billable items.

Billing methods

MPS supports two billing methods:

Pay-as-you-go: You are billed based on actual usage. Use the service first, pay later.
Resource plan: Purchase a discounted plan for specific billable items in advance. Usage is deducted from the plan first at billing time.

Note

Resource plans are discounted compared to pay-as-you-go. Choose a plan that fits your usage volume. Introduction to resource plans.
Pay-as-you-go bills that are generated before you purchase a resource plan cannot be deducted from the plan.
If you have multiple resource plans of the same type, the plan that expires first is applied first.
Usage that exceeds the quota of your resource plan is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Billing cycle

ApsaraVideo Media Processing (MPS) is billed hourly. Bills are generated for each hour of usage, and fees are deducted after the bills are generated.

Billing cycle	Bill generation and fee deduction	Applicable billable items
Hour	Bills are generated hourly. After a billing cycle ends, a bill for that cycle is generated based on your service usage in the previous hour. (Bills are typically generated one hour after the billing cycle ends, but the actual time may vary.) Fees are deducted in real time after a bill is generated. The amount is immediately deducted from your MPS resource plan, account balance, or vouchers.	Billable items

Example

A user submits a batch of transcoding jobs that are completed between 11:00:00 and 12:00:00 on November 10, 2023.

After 12:00:00 on November 10, 2023, MPS calculates the usage for the jobs that were completed between 11:00:00 and 12:00:00.

At 14:00:00 on November 10, 2023, MPS generates a bill for the usage between 11:00:00 and 12:00:00. The fees are deducted immediately after the bill is generated.
