Serverless instance billing overview
This topic covers the billable items, billing methods, and billing cycles for serverless instances of the MSE registry and configuration center.
Billable items
The billable items for an MSE registry and configuration center include the instance fee and the network fee. SLB provides network access.
For information about the instance fee, see Instance fee. For information about the network fee, see Network fee.
Billing method
Pay-as-you-go: A post-paid billing method where you are charged for your actual usage. This method is ideal for fluctuating business needs.
Billing cycle
Pay-as-you-go: Serverless instances are billed hourly. At the beginning of each hour, the system calculates the previous hour's fees and deducts them from your Alibaba Cloud account. The actual billing time may vary.
Instance fee
A serverless instance is billed based on the maximum number of client-to-server connections within a billing cycle. The cost is calculated progressively across billing tiers, with every 10 connections treated as a single unit. Clients establish connections to the server as follows:
MSE Nacos: For client processes of version 1.x, service registration, service subscription, and configuration subscription each establish a separate connection. For client processes of version 2.x, service registration and subscription share one connection, while configuration subscription establishes another.
MSE ZooKeeper: Each client session establishes one connection.
The unit prices for each billing tier are listed in the following table.
After you create an instance, a minimum fee of CNY 0.16 per hour applies, even if there is no traffic and the number of client connections is zero.
The system rounds up the maximum number of connections within an hour to the nearest multiple of 10. For example, the system meters 52 client connections as 60.
Billing tier | Connection range | Rate (CNY/10 connections/hour) |
First tier | 0 to 10 (inclusive) | 0.16 |
Second tier | 11 to 50 (inclusive) | 0.07 |
Third tier | 51 to 100 (inclusive) | 0.05 |
Fourth tier | 101 and above | 0.018 |
Billing example
Suppose a serverless instance runs for two hours, and the maximum number of connections per hour is as follows:
First hour: 8 connections
Second hour: 28 connections
The cost is calculated as follows:
For the first hour, the 8 connections fall into the first tier. The rate is CNY 0.16 per 10 connections/hour. The cost for this hour is CNY 0.16.
For the second hour, the 28 connections span the first and second tiers:
First tier: The first 10 connections are billed at CNY 0.16 per 10 connections/hour, totaling CNY 0.16.
Second tier: The remaining 18 connections fall into this tier. This usage is rounded up to two units of 10 connections. The cost is 2 * CNY 0.07 = CNY 0.14.
The total cost for the second hour is CNY 0.16 + CNY 0.14 = CNY 0.30.
The total cost for both hours is CNY 0.16 + CNY 0.30 = CNY 0.46.
Network fee
Public network access to an MSE instance requires a public SLB. The following table lists the SLB billing details.
Region | Public bandwidth (Mbps) | Rate (CNY/hour) |
Chinese mainland | 1 ≤ N ≤ 5 | 0.12 + (N * 0.04) |
6 ≤ N ≤ 5000 | 0.32 + (N - 5) * 0.14 |
In the table, N represents the amount of bandwidth in Mbps.
