Microservices Engine (MSE) is a fully managed platform for open source microservice ecosystems. It provides registration and configuration centers (Nacos, ZooKeeper, Eureka), a cloud-native gateway (Ingress, Envoy), microservice governance (Spring Cloud, Dubbo, Sentinel) compliant with the OpenSergo service governance specification, and distributed task scheduling (XXL-JOB, ElasticJob, Spring Schedule).

Prerequisites

Familiarize yourself with these concepts:

Features

MSE includes the following modules: a microservice, microservice governance, a cloud-native gateway, distributed task scheduling. Use these modules individually or together.

Module

Description

Registration and configuration center

Fully managed registration and configuration centers compatible with Nacos, ZooKeeper, and Eureka, with multiple engine types and console-based O&M. Provides higher performance, SLA guarantees, built-in monitoring and alerting, and better configuration capabilities compared to self-hosted open source components.

Microservice governance

Non-intrusively enhances Spring Cloud and Apache Dubbo with service governance and traffic protection, decoupling middleware from business logic.

Cloud-native gateway

Next-generation gateway compliant with Kubernetes Ingress standards. Unifies Ingress traffic gateway, microservice gateway, and security gateway in one.

Distributed task scheduling

SchedulerX, developed by Alibaba Cloud, is built on Akka and compatible with XXL-JOB, Elastic Job, Kubernetes Job, and Spring Schedule. Supports cron jobs, manual triggers, task orchestration, and distributed data processing. Provides high availability, visualization, low-latency execution, and easy O&M.

Why MSE

MSE offers fully managed registration and configuration centers, service governance, cloud-native gateways, and distributed task scheduling. Key benefits:

Features

Description

Open source enhancement

Fully compatible with open source products and Kubernetes. Enhances performance, observability, and ease of use.

Fully managed service

Fully managed clusters let you focus on business development without deploying or managing infrastructure. This service is more professional, elastic, and reliable.

High availability

Built-in monitoring and O&M addresses availability pain points common in self-hosted open source middleware.

Non-intrusive

Connect applications to the governance center without changing code, configurations, or images. Supports Spring Cloud, Dubbo, and polyglot applications.

Embrace cloud-native

Connects applications from ACK, ACK serverless clusters, ECS, SAE, and polyglot environments to the governance center for microservice governance.

Visualization

Visual interface for monitoring service availability, managing services, and configuring alerts.

Security

Instances run in dedicated environments with full user isolation.

Detailed comparisons are available in Features and Benefits.

Billing

Each MSE module is billed per managed instance. Supported billing methods:

  • Subscription: Pay upfront for a specific period.

  • Pay-as-you-go: Pay after use. Provision and release resources on demand.

Detailed pricing is documented under each sub-product.
