A storage plan is a prepaid billing method. It offsets the storage capacity of only the file system it is bound to. This topic describes how to upgrade and renew General-purpose NAS storage plans.
After File Storage NAS introduced NAS resource plans, storage plans are no longer available for new purchase. However, you can still renew and upgrade your existing storage plans. Unlike storage plans, resource plans do not need to be bound to a file system. They can be used to offset the storage capacity of multiple General-purpose NAS file systems and can be combined.
Usage rules
-
After you purchase a storage plan, NAS deducts the storage capacity consumed by your file system from the plan's quota.
-
You can bind a General-purpose NAS file system to only one storage plan at a time. After you bind a storage plan to a file system, you cannot manually unbind it. The plan automatically unbinds only when the file system is deleted. You can then bind the unbound storage plan to another file system of the same type within the same region to offset its storage capacity costs.
-
A storage plan first offsets the capacity of standard storage tiers (Performance, Capacity, or Premium). If any capacity remains in the plan, it offsets IA storage capacity based on a specific conversion factor.
-
If (storage plan capacity - standard storage capacity) × conversion factor - IA storage capacity ≥ 0 GiB, the plan covers all IA storage usage.
-
If (storage plan capacity - standard storage capacity) × conversion factor - IA storage capacity < 0 GiB, the plan does not fully cover the IA storage usage. The remaining usage is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.
The conversion factor in the formula depends on the file system's storage class: the factor is 12.333 for Performance and 2.333 for Capacity.

Upgrade a storage plan
If the capacity of the storage plan bound to your file system no longer meets your business needs, we recommend that you purchase a resource plan. Unlike a storage plan, a resource plan does not require binding to a file system, can offset storage capacity for multiple General-purpose NAS file systems, and can be combined. If you want to continue using a storage plan but require a higher capacity, follow these steps to upgrade it.
-
Go to the Resource Plans page and select a region from the top navigation bar.
-
Click the Storage Package tab, find the storage plan that you want to upgrade, and then click Upgrade in the Actions column.
Note-
You can upgrade (scale up) a storage plan, but you cannot downgrade (scale down) it.
-
Upgrading a storage plan does not affect its bound file system.
-
-
In the Upgrade panel, select the new storage capacity.
You can upgrade the storage capacity to a minimum of 500 GiB and a maximum of 1 PiB.
-
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the purchase.
Renew a storage plan
When your storage plan is about to expire, we recommend purchasing a resource plan. Unlike a storage plan, a resource plan does not require binding to a file system, can offset storage capacity for multiple General-purpose NAS file systems, and can be combined. If you want to continue using a storage plan, you must renew it before it expires by following these steps. For more information about resource renewal, see Renew expiring resources.
Once a storage plan expires, it is automatically released and cannot be renewed.
