Perform bulk operations on cloud disks

Procedure

1. Log on to the console and navigate to the Automated Tasks > Common O&M Tasks > Perform Bulk Operations on Cloud Disks page. Click Created.

   

2. On the Create Bulk Cloud Disk Operation Task page, in the Select Task Type section, select a task type and configure its parameters.

   The required parameters depend on the selected task type.

   Resize cloud disks

   Important

   • Changing a cloud disk's configuration may incur charges. For more information, see Block storage billing.

   • You cannot decrease the capacity of a cloud disk. After a cloud disk is resized, the new capacity cannot be reduced. We recommend that you plan your storage space carefully.

   • To prevent data loss from operational errors, first create a snapshot to back up data on the cloud disks that you want to resize. For more information, see Create a snapshot.

   When you select Resize cloud disks in bulk as the Task Type, you must configure the resizing method and the target capacity.

   • Resizing Method: You can perform offline resizing or online resizing.

     • Offline resizing: After resizing is complete, you must restart the instance in the console or call an API operation for the new capacity to take effect.

     • Online resizing: The new capacity takes effect immediately, without requiring an instance restart.

   • Target Capacity: The value range is 20 to 32,768 GiB.

   Modify disk specifications

   Important

   • Changing a cloud disk's configuration may incur charges. For more information, see Block storage billing.

   • We recommend performing the configuration change during off-peak hours. For an unattached cloud disk, its final performance depends on the instance to which it is later attached.

   When you select Modify cloud disk specifications in bulk as the Task Type, you must configure the disk type and performance level.

   • Cloud Disk Type: You can change the type to ESSD, ESSD AutoPL, Standard SSD, or Ultra Disk.

   • Performance level: You can select PL0, PL1, PL2, or PL3. For more information about cloud disk performance, see Block storage performance.

   Create snapshots

   Important

   • Creating snapshots may incur charges. For more information, see Block storage billing.

   • When you create a snapshot, do not change the state of the ECS instance. For example, if you stop or restart the ECS instance, the snapshot creation fails.

   When you select Create snapshots for cloud disks in bulk as the Task Type, you must configure the retention period for the snapshots.

   Retention period: The value range is 1 to 65,536 days. The snapshot is automatically deleted after the retention period ends.

3. In the Select Disks section, select the cloud disks for the operation.

   

4. (Optional) Configure the parameters in the Advanced Options and Execution Settings sections.

   • In the Advanced Options section, select a Rate Control type (concurrency-based or batch-based) and set the Error Threshold to manage task execution.

     Note

     For more information about terms such as rate control, see Loop.

   • In the Execution Settings section, select a tag, a resource group, and an execution mode, and specify whether to save the task as a template for reuse.

5. Click Created. In the Parameter Confirmation dialog box that appears, verify the settings and click OK.

   After the task is created, you can find it in the list of bulk cloud disk operation tasks. To view the details of a task, click its execution ID.
