Problem description

When you use a browser to access an object through an Object Storage Service (OSS) acceleration endpoint, the browser might download the object instead of previewing it.

Causes

If you use an OSS acceleration endpoint to access an object in a bucket where transfer acceleration was enabled after 00:00 on February 1, 2023, OSS adds the following two headers to the response:

x-oss-force-download: true
Content-Disposition: attachment

The Content-Disposition: attachment header triggers a download instead of a preview in a standard browser.

Examples

For example, you have an object named test in a bucket where transfer acceleration was enabled after 00:00 on February 1, 2023. When you use a browser and an OSS acceleration endpoint to access the object, the response includes the two preceding headers. The Content-Disposition: attachment header causes the browser to download the object instead of previewing it.

GET /test HTTP/1.1
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Content-Disposition: attachment
x-oss-force-download: true

Solution

To prevent OSS from returning a header that forces a download, use a custom domain name to access the object. For more information, see Map custom domain names.
