Create and manage accelerators

Create subscription dataset acceleration instances in Platform for AI (PAI) to reserve capacity in advance and accelerate data reading for critical training jobs.

Prerequisites

Before you use Dataset Accelerator for the first time, authorize the service to access your data sources. Otherwise, the service cannot access the data sources. For more information, see Grant the permissions that are required to use Dataset Accelerator.

Create an accelerator

Important

Creating an accelerator incurs fees. For more information, see Billing of Dataset Accelerator.

  1. Log on to the PAI console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose AI Acceleration > Dataset Accelerator.

  3. On the Accelerators tab, click Create an instance.

  4. On the AI Dataset Accelerator (Subscription) page, configure the parameters.

    These parameters determine the region, data source, capacity, and validity period of the instance. Specify them based on your training requirements.

    Description

    Region

    Select the region of the instance based on the on-screen instructions.

    Data Source Type

    The data source types that can be accelerated.

    Capacity

    The capacity that can be allocated to the instance. Valid values: 500 to 102400. Unit: GB.

    Subscription duration

    Select a subscription duration based on the on-screen instructions.

  5. Click Buy Now.

    After the purchase is complete, you are redirected to the Accelerators management page. The top of the page shows the total capacity of acceleration instances, the number of instances, and the number of acceleration slots. The instance list shows the specifications, usage/total capacity, running status, and number of acceleration slots of each instance.

Manage accelerators

In the left-side navigation pane, click Accelerators to go to the instance list page. You can perform the following operations on acceleration instances:

  • View basic information about an accelerator

    Click the instance name to go to the acceleration instance details page. On this page, you can view the Basic Information and the created dataset acceleration slots.

  • Modify the configurations of an accelerator

    In the Actions column of the target acceleration instance, click Manage to modify the configuration items, including Instance Name, Description, and Maximum Slots.

  • Expand the capacity of an accelerator

    If the current capacity of the acceleration instance is insufficient, click Upgrade in the Actions column to increase the capacity. Insufficient capacity reduces the data reading speed of training jobs.

    Important

    Capacity expansion incurs fees. For more information, see Billing of Dataset Accelerator.

  • Renew an accelerator

    To continue using the acceleration instance, click Renew in the Actions column. If you do not renew the instance before it expires, the instance stops.
