Resource plans
The cloud-native database PolarDB offers three types of resource plans: compute plans for defined specifications, Serverless compute plans, and storage plans. These plans are used to offset the costs of different resources and can be stacked. You can purchase resource plans as needed to reduce your usage costs.
Comparison analysis
Item | Compute plans for defined specifications | Serverless compute plans | Storage plans |
Deductible Item | Defined specification resources of compute nodes. | Dynamic resources of compute nodes. |
|
Applicable cluster types | Pay-as-you-go clusters. |
Note The serverless feature of clusters with defined specifications means that the Serverless dynamic resource feature is enabled on the defined specification compute nodes of pay-as-you-go or subscription clusters. |

Region restrictions | No restrictions. These plans can be used to offset the costs of defined specification resources for compute nodes of pay-as-you-go clusters in any region under your Alibaba Cloud account. | No restrictions. Operations such as purchasing, upgrading, renewing, or unsubscribing from resource plans affect only the billing rules for the covered resources and do not affect your business.
If the remaining amount or capacity of your resource plan is insufficient to cover your usage, any excess usage is automatically billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.
If you have multiple resource plans of the same type, they are applied in a specific offset order: The plan that is closest to its expiration date is used first. If multiple plans have the same expiration date, the plan that was purchased first is used first.
