Hourly cost calculation method

CNY 0.00021/GB/hour

CNY 0.000294/GB/hour

Hourly cost = Total backup size × Hourly price

For example, if the total backup size is 1000 GB, the hourly fee is CNY 0.21 in the Chinese mainland or .

Formula: 1000 GB × CNY 0.00021/GB/hour = CNY 0.21/hour

Use a storage plan to offset data backup costs

You can use a storage plan to offset data backup costs. If the capacity of the storage plan is not enough to offset the data backup storage usage, the excess usage is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

The deduction rules are as follows:

Region type

Deduction factor

Data backup storage offset by a 1 GB storage plan

The Chinese mainland

0.043

1/0.043 = 23.26 GB

Hong Kong (China) and other regions

0.054

1/0.054 = 18.52 GB

For example, you purchase a 100 GB storage plan. After offsetting your primary storage usage, 50 GB remains. Your cluster in the Chinese mainland region uses 50 GB of data backup storage. The storage plan automatically uses 2.15 GB (50/23.26) of its capacity to offset this usage. The remaining capacity of the storage plan is 47.85 GB.

If the remaining capacity of the storage plan is not enough to offset the data backup storage usage, the excess usage is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Note

For more information about storage plan deductions, see Storage plan billing FAQ.

Use a storage plan to offset log backup costs

You can use a storage plan to offset log backup costs. If the capacity of the storage plan is not enough to offset the log backup storage usage, the excess usage is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

The deduction rules are as follows:

Region type

Deduction factor

Log backup storage offset by a 1 GB storage plan

The Chinese mainland

0.043

1/0.043 = 23.26 GB

Hong Kong (China) and other regions

Storage plan deduction rules

Use a storage plan to offset level-1 backup costs

You can use a storage plan to offset the costs for level-1 backup usage that exceeds the free quota. If the capacity of the storage plan is not enough to offset the level-1 backup storage usage, the excess usage is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

The deduction rules are as follows:

Region type

Deduction factor

Level-1 backup storage offset by a 1 GB storage plan

The Chinese mainland (PSL4)

0.41

1/0.41 = 2.44 GB

The Chinese mainland (PSL5)

0.617

1/0.617 = 1.62 GB

Hong Kong (China) and other regions (PSL4)

0.41

1/0.41 = 2.44 GB

Hong Kong (China) and other regions (PSL5)

0.617

1/0.617 = 1.62 GB

For example, you purchase a 100 GB storage plan. After offsetting your primary storage (PSL5) usage, 50 GB remains. Your cluster in the Chinese mainland region uses 50 GB of level-1 backup storage that exceeds the free quota. The storage plan automatically uses 31.25 GB (50/1.6) of its capacity to offset this usage. The remaining capacity of the storage plan is 18.75 GB.

If the remaining capacity of the storage plan is not enough to offset the level-1 backup storage usage, the excess usage is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Note

For more information about storage plan deductions, see Storage plan billing FAQ.

Use a storage plan to offset level-2 backup costs

You can use a storage plan to offset level-2 backup costs. If the capacity of the storage plan is not enough to offset the level-2 backup storage usage, the excess usage is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

The deduction rules are as follows:

Region type

Deduction factor

Level-2 backup storage offset by a 1 GB storage plan

The Chinese mainland

0.043

1/0.043 = 23.26 GB

Hong Kong (China) and other regions

0.054

1/0.054 = 18.52 GB

For example, you purchase a 100 GB storage plan. After offsetting your primary storage usage, 50 GB remains. Your cluster in the Chinese mainland region uses 50 GB of level-2 backup storage. The storage plan automatically uses 2.15 GB (50/23.26) of its capacity to offset this usage. The remaining capacity of the storage plan is 47.85 GB.

If the remaining capacity of the storage plan is not enough to offset the level-2 backup storage usage, the excess usage is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

0.054

1/0.054 = 18.52 GB

For example, you purchase a 100 GB storage plan. After offsetting your primary storage usage, 50 GB remains. Your cluster in the Chinese mainland region uses 50 GB of log backup storage. The storage plan automatically uses 2.15 GB (50/23.26) of its capacity to offset this usage. The remaining capacity of the storage plan is 47.85 GB.

If the remaining capacity of the storage plan is not enough to offset the log backup storage usage, the excess usage is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Note

For more information about storage plan deductions, see Storage plan billing FAQ.

How to reduce backup data size and costs

  • You can reduce the retention period of backup data. For more information, see Configure a backup policy.

    • You can reduce the retention period of level-1 backups, for example, from 7 days to 3 days.

    • You can reduce the retention period of level-2 backups, for example, from 70 days to 30 days.

      Note

Reducing the retention period of level-1 and level-2 backups carries risks. If you try to restore a backup set that is older than the retention period, the restoration fails.

    • You can reduce the retention period of log backups, for example, from 7 days to 3 days.

      Note

Reducing the retention period of log backups carries risks. If you try to perform a point-in-time restore to a point in time that is earlier than the retention period, the restoration fails.

  • You can reduce the backup frequency (backup cycle). For more information, see Configure a backup policy.

    • You can reduce the frequency of level-1 backups, for example, from once a day to three times a week.

      Note

Reducing the frequency of level-1 backups may increase the time required to restore data to a point in time.

    • You can reduce the frequency of level-2 backups, for example, from three times a week to twice a week.

  • You can purchase a storage plan to offset the costs of level-1 backups, level-2 backups, and log backups. Using a storage plan is more cost-effective. For more information, see Storage plans.

  • You can delete unneeded backup sets from the cluster recycle bin to reduce level-2 backup costs. For more information, see Delete a backup set.
