The subscription billing method for storage space involves prepaying for a cluster's storage space at the time of purchase.
Scenarios
This billing method is ideal when the total storage usage of all clusters in a region under your Alibaba Cloud account is less than 10 TB and the workload is stable.
Limits
Subscription storage space can be used only by the specific cluster for which you purchased it. This may lead to wasted space.
Storage space supports only scale-out. Scale-in is not supported. For more information, see Manual scale-out.
If your data volume exceeds the purchased storage space, your cluster continues to run normally. The excess data is billed at pay-as-you-go rates.If you have a storage plan, the excess usage is first deducted from the plan. Any usage that exceeds the capacity of the storage plan is then billed on a pay-as-you-go basis. For example, if you purchase 100 GB of subscription storage space and a 50 GB storage plan, but your data volume reaches 200 GB, 50 GB of the 100 GB of excess data is covered by your storage plan. The remaining 50 GB is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.
