This topic describes the refund policy and unsubscription rules for PolarDB.

PolarDB supports unsubscription and offers partial refunds.

  • The refund policy for PolarDB varies based on the billing method:

    Billing method

    Refund policy

    Subscription

For subscription PolarDB clusters, you prepay for resources based on the subscription duration, product series, and node specifications. If your business needs change and you no longer require a subscription cluster, request a refund. When you request a refund, the system calculates the amount based on your subscription cluster's configuration.

    Pay-as-you-go

Pay-as-you-go PolarDB clusters generate bills in real time based on actual usage. Therefore, refunds are not applicable. If you no longer need a pay-as-you-go PolarDB cluster, release it. Before you release the cluster, back up or migrate its data to avoid business disruptions. After the cluster is released, you are no longer charged for it.

Compute plans and storage plans with defined specifications

You can unsubscribe from purchased compute plans and storage plans with defined specifications. For more information, see Unsubscribe from a compute plan or storage plan with defined specifications.

  • Refunds may also be available in scenarios such as switching billing methods or downgrading resources. The details are as follows:

    Switch from subscription to pay-as-you-go

For the formula used to calculate the refund for switching from subscription to pay-as-you-go, see Unsubscription rules.
