Create an instance

This topic describes how to create a primary instance of a PolarDB-X 1.0 compute resource.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the PolarDB-X 1.0 console.

  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region where the instance is deployed.

  3. In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances.

  4. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Create New Instance.

  5. On the purchase page, set the following parameters.

    Option

    Description

    Product Type

    Select Subscription or Pay-as-you-go.

    Note

    • Pay-as-you-go is a postpaid method that is typically used for testing or trial purposes.

    • Subscription is a prepaid method that is ideal for long-term use in production environments. The unit price for a subscription is lower than for pay-as-you-go.

    Region and Zone

    Select the region and zone to specify the physical location of the instance.

    Note

    If you select multiple zones, such as Zone B and Zone F, it means the primary and secondary nodes of the instance are in different zones. The compute nodes are distributed evenly across the selected zones and do not require separate specification.

    Instance Type

    This is fixed to Dedicated Instance and cannot be changed.

    Network Type

    Select Classic Network or Virtual Private Cloud (VPC).

    Note

    If you select VPC, you must first create a VPC and a virtual switch in the target region and zone. For more information, see Create and manage a VPC.

    MySQL Version

    Select MySQL 8 (fully compatible with MySQL 8.0) or MySQL 5 (fully compatible with MySQL 5.x).

    Storage Class

    Select RDS MySQL (private RDS for MySQL) or POLARDB (tenant-managed PolarDB for MySQL).

    Series

    Select a series based on your business scenario. For online services in a production environment, select the Standard Edition or Enterprise Edition. For more information, see Instance types.

    Specification

    Select the instance specification to configure the number of CPU cores and memory size. For more information, see Instance types.

    Quantity

    Select the number of instances to purchase.

    Subscription Duration

    Select the subscription duration for the instance.

    Note

    This parameter is available only when the billing method is set to Subscription.

  6. Click Buy Now.

  7. Click Buy Now.

  8. On the Confirm Order page, read and agree to the terms of service and click Pay to complete the payment.

  9. After the payment is completed, the instance is created after 1 to 5 minutes. Then, you can view the instance on the Instances page in the console.
