PolarDB-X 1.0 instances are classified by CPU processing capability, memory capacity, and disk space. All instances are dedicated instances with at least two nodes for high availability. Processing capability is measured in queries per second (QPS). Use this topic to choose the right edition and specification for your workload.

Choose an edition

Use the following table to identify the edition that matches your workload, then review the full specification list for that edition.

Edition Target workload Parallel queries
Starter Edition Early-stage development and testing Not available
Standard Edition Online workloads requiring high concurrency, complex queries, and lightweight analysis Enabled by default
Enterprise Edition Enterprise workloads requiring ultra-high concurrency, large-scale complex queries, and accelerated reporting Enabled by default
Important

The Starter Edition does not support query acceleration for complex queries.

Compute instance specifications

When selecting a specification, compare the maximum QPS supported by each specification against the estimated peak QPS of your workload.

Select a storage specification

To choose the right storage configuration:

  • Estimate the maximum disk space required based on your expected business growth over the next one to two years.

  • Estimate the maximum input/output operations per second (IOPS) required by a single PolarDB-X 1.0 instance.

Note

To support fast scaling when a storage bottleneck is encountered, purchase multiple PolarDB-X 1.0 instances with small or medium specifications rather than a single large instance.
