Manage instances
This topic describes how to manage PolarDB-X 1.0 compute resource read-only instance.
View read-only instances
View read-only instances from the instance list page.
On the instance list page, click the ID of a read-only instance to go to its basic information page.

In the Related Instances section, move the pointer over the number of read-only instances to view their IDs.
Click an instance ID to go to the basic information page of the read-only instance.
View the database list of a read-only instance
The databases on a read-only instance are replicated from the primary instance. The PolarDB-X 1.0 storage resource instance used by the read-only instance databases and the PolarDB-X 1.0 storage resource instance used by the primary instance databases are the same set of instances. To avoid affecting the primary instance databases, we recommend that you select a PolarDB-X 1.0 storage resource read-only instance that is not used by the primary instance databases for the read-only instance.
If the primary instance already has databases, after you create a read-only instance, go to the database list of the read-only instance. The databases are in the Select RDS state.
Click Select RDS to go to the page where you can select a private custom RDS instance.
You cannot create or delete databases from the management interface of a PolarDB-X 1.0 compute resource read-only instance. Databases on the read-only instance are created and deleted along with those on the primary instance.
Select a private custom RDS instance
Data of a PolarDB-X 1.0 compute resource read-only instance is stored on PolarDB-X 1.0 storage resource instance, including PolarDB-X 1.0 storage resource primary instance and PolarDB-X 1.0 storage resource read-only instance. On the Storage Node Information page, you can view all available PolarDB-X 1.0 storage resource instance for the current database.
The PolarDB-X 1.0 storage resource primary instance in the list is the primary instance used by the database of the corresponding PolarDB-X 1.0 compute resource primary instance. The list is grouped by PolarDB-X 1.0 storage resource primary instance. In the Actions column, click Select to select a PolarDB-X 1.0 storage resource instance for the current PolarDB-X 1.0 compute resource read-only instance.
We recommend that you select a new PolarDB-X 1.0 storage resource read-only instance to avoid using the same PolarDB-X 1.0 compute resource primary instance and the PolarDB-X 1.0 compute resource read-only instance with the same PolarDB-X 1.0 storage resource read-only instance, which may affect the service stability of the PolarDB-X 1.0 compute resource primary instance.
After a PolarDB-X 1.0 compute resource primary instance completes smooth database scaling, the target PolarDB-X 1.0 storage resource primary instance is selected by default as the storage instance for the corresponding database on the PolarDB-X 1.0 compute resource read-only instance. Switch this PolarDB-X 1.0 storage resource primary instance to the corresponding PolarDB-X 1.0 storage resource read-only instance as soon as possible.
Release a read-only instance
You can release a PolarDB-X 1.0 compute resource read-only instance from the instance list page or the basic information page of the read-only instance. After a read-only instance is released, the databases on the read-only instance are also deleted. This operation does not affect the databases on the PolarDB-X 1.0 compute resource primary instance.
