Data configuration

Updated at:

The Data Configuration directive lets you redefine file parameters and configure settings, such as poll once.

Background

The Data Configuration directive provides the following features:

  • Custom Parameters: Redefine global parameters, including global custom parameters and global file parameters.

  • File Parameter Settings: Specify a column in a global file parameter as the benchmark column to make full use of the data in the parameter file.

The data configuration node is typically used with parameter files. For more information, see file data source.

Usage notes:

  • When you configure a file parameter, you cannot modify its parameter name directly. To modify a parameter name, you must redefine it on the Custom Parameters tab.

  • You can designate only one parameter for Poll Once and one for Benchmark Column. These settings are mutually exclusive. If you enable Poll Once for a parameter, you cannot set a benchmark column.

  • You cannot configure an empty data configuration node if it is not in a draft state.

  • A data configuration node applies only to the serial link to which it belongs.

Set custom parameters

  1. Log on to the PTS console. Add and configure an API. For more information, see HTTP node overview.

  2. Create a file parameter. For more information, see Create file parameter.

  3. On the Scene Configuration tab, click the drop-down arrow next to Add Directive and select Data Configuration.

  4. Click the efg icon next to Data Configuration. In the expanded area, configure the parameter name and parameter logic on the Custom Parameters tab.

Set file parameters

For example, a parameter file named username contains two parameters, q1 and q12. To use the parameter file and set q1 as the benchmark column, follow these steps:

  1. Create a file parameter from the username file. For more information, see Create file parameter.

  2. On the Scene Configuration tab, add the API that you want to stress test, and then click the drop-down arrow next to Add Directive and select Data Configuration.

  3. Click the efg icon next to Data Configuration. In the expanded area, click the Data Source Parameter Settings tab.

  4. On the Data Source Parameter Settings tab, add the q1 and q12 parameters and configure them as needed.

    Parameter

    Description

    Read Mode

You can select Read Parameters Sequentially or Read Parameters Randomly.

    Poll Data Once

When this option is enabled, PTS uses each data entry only once during the entire stress test. Enabling this option for a parameter also sets it as the benchmark column.

    Benchmark Column

When you set a column as the benchmark column, data in other columns is aligned with it. For example, if the benchmark column has 100 rows, data in longer columns is truncated to 100 rows, while data in shorter columns is repeated to match this length. In this example, q1 is the benchmark column.
