Parameter overview
The PTS parameter feature enables dynamic operations in stress testing requests for scenarios such as simulating different user logons or passing business parameters. This topic describes the available parameter types and how to use them.
Parameter types
PTS supports the following parameter types for stress testing requests.
Parameter type | Scope | Description |
File parameter | Global | Store associated parameters in different columns of a file. Then, upload the file to provide the parameter values. File parameters are typically used with the data configuration node feature. For more information, see File Data Source. |
Custom parameter | Global | Combine strings and system functions into a custom variable. This makes it easy to use the variable in global scenarios. This is useful when you need to frequently adjust a global setting, such as a specific header. For more information, see Custom Parameters. |
System function | Global | Includes encryption functions, random functions, basic operations, and other common function types. You can use functions to process strings, global custom variables, and trace variables. For example, you can apply an MD5 signature to the UID output from a previous API call. For more information, see Use System Functions. |
Global Header | Global | Set the same header for all APIs across all stress testing scenarios. For more information, see Global Header. |
Trace Header | Trace | Set the same header for all APIs within a trace. For more information, see Set Trace Headers. |
Data export parameter | None | Export parameters from a trace to use them in other traces. For more information, see Data Export Instruction. |
Logic controller of data—Custom parameter | Trace | Use custom parameters defined by a logic controller of data to redefine common parameters or response parameters. For more information, see Logic Controller of Data. |
Data configuration—Custom parameter | Trace | Use custom parameters defined by a data configuration to redefine global parameters or file parameters. For more information, see Data Configuration Instruction. |
Response parameter | Trace | When you create a trace, use part of the response from a previous API call as a parameter. For more information, see API Response Parameters. |
