Adjust speed
After you start a performance test, you can monitor the performance metrics for the entire scene and each API in real time. You can also adjust the load during the test. PTS records all operations performed on the scene for future reference. This topic describes how to start a performance test, manually adjust speed, and view operation records.
Background information
The number of scenes you can run concurrently is limited by your purchased resource pack. For more information, see Resource pack overview.
Start a performance test
Log in to the PTS console. In the left navigation bar, select Performance Testing > Create Scenario, and then click PTS Stress Test.
On the Create PTS Scene page, configure the scene, stress configuration, and advanced settings.
For more information about how to configure a scene, see Create a performance test scene.
For more information about stress configuration, see Pressure model.
For more information about advanced settings, see General Settings.
Click Save and Start Test, select an Execution Cycle, and click OK.
Immediately: Starts the performance test immediately. This is the default option.
Scheduled: To start the performance test at a specific time, select Scheduled and configure the schedule. For more information, see Scheduled performance test.
After the test starts, the page displays the following areas:
Data and configuration information area: This area displays the real-time status of the scene, including the current test status, the VUMs used, and the total size of packets sent and received for the scene.
Single API real-time status area: This area displays real-time metrics for each single API, such as RT and concurrency.
Adjust speed for a single API: Adjusts the speed for a single API. Changes take effect immediately.
Batch speed adjustment: Adjusts the speed for all APIs in the scene or for a specific serial link. Changes take effect immediately.
View Chart: A monitoring icon for a single API. Click this icon to view real-time information for the API, such as requests, response time, and concurrency.
Adjust speed in auto-increment mode
In auto-increment mode, if you click Global Batch Speed Adjustment or Serial Link Speed Adjustment, the mode switches from auto-increment to manual speed adjustment, and the performance test continues at the load you specify.
If you use Global Batch Speed Adjustment to switch to manual mode, the entire scene (all APIs in all serial links) switches to manual speed adjustment.
If you use Serial Link Speed Adjustment, the target serial link switches to manual mode, while unaffected serial links remain in auto-increment mode.
In the Scene Details area, you can view configuration information such as the current increment mode, increment, and the duration of each increment. The Global Batch Speed Adjustment and Serial Link Speed Adjustment buttons are on the right.
Adjust speed in manual mode
In manual speed adjustment mode, you adjust the speed using the same method described above. If you do not adjust the speed, the test continues to run at the current load level.
Operation records
During a performance test, you can view the scene's automatically generated operation records. You can also add notes in the Scene Operation Record panel.
On the Testing page, click Operation Record in the upper-right corner of the Scene Details section.
Actions such as starting and stopping the test, and manually adjusting the speed, are logged in the operation records.
To log other actions, enter notes and click Save Note.
