This topic describes the differences between the new and old billing models.
May 11, 2023
Starting May 11, 2023, new users who enable the pay-as-you-go billing method for Performance Testing Service (PTS) receive a free trial quota of 5,000 Virtual User Minutes (VUMs). This quota is designed for daily, continuous stress testing.
Important The free quota of 5,000 VUMs is valid for 30 days after activation.
After you enable the pay-as-you-go billing method, the VUMs generated by stress testing tasks are first deducted from your free trial quota. After the free quota is used up, any additional usage is billed based on the pay-as-you-go pricing. For more information about pay-as-you-go billing, see Pay-as-you-go.

PTS adjusted the billing method for VUMs. The formula to calculate billable VUMs for stress tests that use the PTS native engine is: Billable VUMs = Number of source IPs × 500 × Stress testing duration. The number of source IPs is calculated as follows:
- In concurrent mode: Number of source IPs = Maximum concurrent users / 500 (rounded up)
- In RPS mode: Number of source IPs = Maximum records per second (RPS) / 4,000 (rounded up)
