Manage user tag values

Updated at:

After you add user tags, organization administrators can manage tag values manually or by using a user tag table.

Prerequisites

You have added user tags. For more information, see Set user tags.

Background information

  • Manual management: Manage user tag values configured in Quick BI.

In this method, you add user tag attributes and assign values on the Manually Manage Tag Tables tab.

  • User tag table: Manage user tag values stored in a source table.

After you connect to a data source and bind a user tag table, Quick BI reads the latest user tag information in real time, eliminating manual maintenance.

Manually manage user tag values

  1. Log on to the Quick BI console.

  2. On the Quick BI homepage, navigate to the member tag management page as shown in the following figure.

Manage tags with a user tag table

When you bind a user tag table from a data source, Quick BI reads the latest user tag information in real time, eliminating manual maintenance.

  1. Create a user tag table.

The user tag table must meet the following requirements:

    • The table must contain at least one of the following fields: account_id, account_name, or nick_name. The users identified by this field must be members of the organization.

    • The table must contain at least one tag field, for example, area.

The following figure shows a sample user tag table. Keep one of the first three columns (Column A, B, or C). Columns D through G are tag columns. You can add more tag columns as needed.样例

    Note
    • If a user has multiple tag values, you can separate them with a comma (,) or list them in separate rows.

    • $ALL_VALUES$ represents all tag values. In all scenarios, it is replaced with "BI=BI", which means having all permissions for the tag.

    • Note: The $ALL_MEMBERS$ placeholder also represents all tag values. However, this condition is removed for row and column permissions. In a tag placeholder scenario, it is interpreted as 'BI=BI'.

  2. Bind the user tag table.

  3. Configure the tag table.

  4. After you preview the settings and confirm they are correct, click Save Settings in the lower-right corner of the page.

  5. Delete the tag table.

Deleting the table affects the use of related tags. The associated tag table field displays Tag table deleted.

  6. Clear the cache.

When you update tag values in a user tag table, Quick BI caches the changes for one hour by default. To apply permission changes immediately, go to Manage Tags, find the user tag table, and click Clear Cache in the lower-right corner.

What to do next

After the configuration is complete, you can configure tag-based row-level security. For more information, see Type 2: Tag-based authorization.
