Database proxy billing
This topic describes the billing methods and pricing for general-purpose and dedicated database proxies for ApsaraDB RDS for PostgreSQL.

Precautions
Database proxies, read-only instances, and primary instances are billed separately.
If a primary instance is locked, its database proxy is not released. The proxy can continue to process read requests but not write requests.
If a primary instance is released, its database proxy is also released. After a proxy is released, it no longer incurs fees.
The database proxy feature is not supported in China (Hangzhou) Zone C and Zone D. To use this feature, you can migrate your instance to another zone. For more information, see Migrate to another zone.
To view the activation records and operators for a database proxy, you can use ActionTrail to query management events. Set Resource Type to ACS::RDS::DbProxy. You can find information such as the service activation time, the operator, and the operator's IP address.

Billing for general-purpose proxies
General-purpose database proxies are provided free of charge.
Billing for dedicated proxies
Dedicated database proxies for ApsaraDB RDS for PostgreSQL are a paid service. When you enable this service in the console, you are notified about the billing details. By enabling the service, you agree to the billing terms.
ApsaraDB RDS for PostgreSQL lets you change the database proxy type. For more information, see Change the database proxy type and Database proxy types.
Billing method for dedicated proxies
Dedicated database proxies are charged on a pay-as-you-go basis, with fees deducted hourly. To view the fees for dedicated database proxies, go to the Bill Details page and find the billable item where the Billing Item Code is MaxscaleChargedSliceNum.
