Auto-renewal

Enabling auto-renewal eliminates the need for manual renewals and prevents service interruptions caused by expiration.

Subscription instances have an expiration date. If you do not renew an instance before it expires, you may experience service interruptions or data loss. For more information, see Impacts of overdue payments or expiration.

Note

Pay-as-you-go and serverless instances do not have an expiration date and do not require renewal.

Notes

  • The system makes the first auto-renewal payment attempt at 08:00 (UTC+8), nine days before the instance expires. If this attempt fails, the system retries daily for the next two days, for a total of three attempts. Please ensure that your Alibaba Cloud account has a sufficient balance to prevent renewal failure.

    Warning

If all three payment attempts fail, you must manually renew the instance to prevent service disruptions and potential data loss.

  • If you manually renew an instance before its scheduled auto-renewal, the system cancels the next automatic payment and reschedules the auto-renewal based on the new expiration date.

  • The auto-renewal feature takes effect the day after you enable it. If your instance expires the next day, you must renew it manually to avoid service interruption. For detailed steps, see manual renewal.

Enable auto-renewal during purchase

When you purchase a subscription instance, you can select Enable Auto-renewal. The auto-renewal cycle is one month for monthly subscriptions and one year for yearly subscriptions. For example, if you purchase an instance for six months and enable auto-renewal, the instance is automatically renewed for one month upon expiration.

Enable auto-renewal after purchase

  1. Log on to the ApsaraDB RDS console.

  2. In the upper-right corner of the RDS console, hover over Fee, and in the pop-up window, select Renewal.

  3. On the renewal management page, use the search and filter features to find the target instance on the manual renewal or non-renewal tab. You can enable auto-renewal for a single instance or for multiple instances in bulk:
