Returns the histogram of a band in a raster object as a JSON-formatted text string. Returns null if the band has no histogram.

Syntax

text ST_Histogram(raster raster_obj, integer band);

Parameters

ParameterDescription
raster_objThe raster object.
bandThe band sequence number. Band numbering starts at 0.

Response

The function returns a text string containing a JSON object with the following fields.

histsCountsArray of integersThe pixel count for each bin.
binFunctionObjectThe bin configuration.
binFunction.typeStringThe bin function type.
binFunction.binRangeObjectThe value range of the bins.
binFunction.binRange.minValueFloatThe minimum value of the bin range.
binFunction.binRange.maxValueFloatThe maximum value of the bin range.
binFunction.binRange.outRangeStringSpecifies how values outside the bin range are handled.
binFunction.binRange.binValuesArray of floatsThe lower boundary value of each bin.

Query the histogram of band 0 from a raster object in raster_table:
