Effective July 9, 2019, Alibaba Cloud discontinued SQL Server patch updates for ApsaraDB RDS for SQL Server 2008 R2 instances.
Background
On July 9, 2019, Microsoft ended support for SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2. After this date, Microsoft no longer provides free patches and security updates, offering only paid Extended Security Updates. These updates, available for up to three years starting from July 9, 2019, include updates for issues rated as critical.
Aligning with Microsoft's policy, Alibaba Cloud also discontinued SQL Server patch updates for ApsaraDB RDS for SQL Server 2008 R2 instances on the same date.
