To manage tasks more efficiently, use the RDS Task Center to track active tasks and view historical task details from the last 30 days. For some database engines, you can adjust the switchover time for certain tasks to a specific time. In this topic, learn about the task types supported by the RDS Task Center, the actions you can perform, and how to modify task schedules.
Tasks and operations
Tasks are currently supported for RDS MySQL, RDS PostgreSQL, and RDS SQL Server instances, but not for RDS MariaDB instances.

Procedure
-
You can access the Task Center in the following ways:
-
Go to the RDS console. In the left navigation pane, click Task Center.
-
Access the Task Center from the instance details page:
-
Go to the RDS instance list, select a region, and then click the target instance ID.
-
In the upper-right corner of the instance details page, click the
icon.
-
-
-
You can find a specific task by filtering on start time, keyword (task ID or resource ID), or status. In the Actions column for the target task, click Details.
In addition to Details, the Actions column also provides links to Modify Cutover Time and Retry. You can use quick filters for the task start time, such as 1 Hour, 1 Day, Last 7 Days, and 30 Days. The available statuses include Succeeded, Failed, Pending Intervention, Awaiting Execution, Executing, Terminating, Terminated, and Awaiting Scheduled Cutover.
-
If a cutover task has a status of Awaiting Scheduled Cutover, click Modify Cutover Time in the Actions column. In the dialog box that appears, select one of the following options:
-
Execute Immediately: Starts the cutover immediately.
-
Execute Within Maintenance Window: Runs the cutover during the instance's Maintenance Window.
-
Execute at Specified Time: Runs the cutover at your specified time.

FAQ
-
Q: Why is the task progress percentage not changing?
A: Task progress does not increase linearly. The percentage is calculated based on the task type, data volume, workload, and the host's available resources. If the progress percentage remains unchanged for an extended period, a time-intensive operation is likely running in the background, such as a cross-host data migration, backup, download, or major version upgrade. Wait for the operation to complete.
-
Q: I performed an operation on an instance in the console, but why can't I see the related task in the Task Center?
A: If an operation is not a managed task, it will not appear in the Task Center. Additionally, the Task Center does not display tasks performed before its release.
-
Q: Can I cancel a running task in the Task Center?
A: No, you cannot cancel running tasks because some tasks may involve refunds, background data migration, or switchovers that cannot be safely interrupted.
-
Q: Can I use the Task Center to configure scheduled scaling of RCUs for a Serverless instance?
A: No. The Task Center only lets you view the progress of current tasks and details of historical tasks from the past 30 days. For some database engines, you can adjust the execution time for specific switchover tasks. For more details, see Supported tasks and operations.
A Serverless ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instance itself provides elastic resources with automatic scaling and per-second billing. The instance's compute resources automatically scale up or down within the RCU range you specify based on the workload. You can manually adjust this scaling range. The triggers for elastic RCU scaling are as follows:
-
Scale-up: Occurs when either CPU utilization or memory usage rises to its scale-up threshold.
-
Scale-down: Occurs when both CPU utilization and memory usage fall below their scale-down thresholds.
