This topic describes the ApsaraDB RDS compute architecture types: x86 and ARM.
ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL and ApsaraDB RDS for PostgreSQL offer instances based on the x86 and ARM compute architectures, allowing you to choose the architecture that best fits your technical needs.

x86: Each vCPU is a hyper-thread on a processor core.

ARM: Each vCPU is a physical processor core, which provides stable performance with dedicated resources. RDS instances that use the ARM architecture offer the same experience as x86-based instances but are more cost-effective, helping you reduce costs and improve efficiency.
The ARM architecture is built on Alibaba Cloud's proprietary Yitian 710 chip and is designed for scenarios such as general computing, cloud-native applications, and Android in Cloud.
