Enterprise codes identify users across Smart Access Gateway (SAG) app instances. When users log in to the SAG app, they enter their username, password, and enterprise code. The enterprise code acts as a globally unique identifier that distinguishes users from different organizations, even when their usernames are identical.

An enterprise code is five characters long and consists of letters and digits.

How it works

Each SAG app instance is assigned one enterprise code. To log in to the SAG app and access your enterprise's private network:

  1. Open the SAG app on your device.

  2. Enter the username and password of your client account.

  3. Enter the enterprise code of the SAG app instance.

The combination of username and enterprise code must be globally unique across all SAG app instances.

Enterprise code types

SAG supports two types of enterprise codes: default and custom.

Default enterprise codes

SAG automatically assigns a default enterprise code to each Alibaba Cloud account. All SAG app instances under the same Alibaba Cloud account share the same default enterprise code by default. Default enterprise codes are globally unique.

Custom enterprise codes

Create a custom enterprise code when you need different SAG app instances to use distinct codes. Custom enterprise codes must be globally unique.

  • Associate a custom enterprise code with a specific SAG app instance. A custom enterprise code takes priority over a default enterprise code.

  • Promote a custom enterprise code to the default enterprise code. The previous default enterprise code then becomes a custom enterprise code.

For instructions, see Manage enterprise codes.

Note: Changing the default enterprise code affects only SAG app instances purchased after the change. Existing instances keep their current enterprise codes. To apply the new default to existing instances, update each instance manually.

Enterprise codes across instances and accounts

The following table shows whether two SAG app instances can share or use different enterprise codes.

Account Resource Same enterprise code Different enterprise codes
Same Alibaba Cloud account Two SAG app instances in the same or different regions Supported. All instances use the default enterprise code by default. Supported. Create custom enterprise codes and associate them with specific instances. Custom enterprise codes must be globally unique. For details, see Manage enterprise codes.
Different Alibaba Cloud accounts Two SAG app instances under different accounts Not supported. Each Alibaba Cloud account has a unique default enterprise code. Supported. The default enterprise code for each Alibaba Cloud account is globally unique.
How an enterprise code works

Usernames and enterprise codes

When you create a client account for an SAG app instance, specify a username. The username-enterprise code combination must be globally unique.

The following table shows whether two SAG app instances can have client accounts with duplicate usernames.

Account Resource Same enterprise code Different enterprise codes
Same Alibaba Cloud account Two SAG app instances in the same region Duplicate usernames not supported. Duplicate usernames supported. Users must enter their own enterprise code when logging in.
Same Alibaba Cloud account Two SAG app instances in different regions Duplicate usernames supported only when roaming is enabled. For details, see Configure roaming for clients.
Different Alibaba Cloud accounts Two SAG app instances in the same or different regions Not supported. Enterprise codes for instances under different Alibaba Cloud accounts are unique by default.
