If you do not currently need an ApsaraDB for SelectDB cluster, you can stop it. When you stop a cluster, its computing resources are released, and you are no longer billed for them. This saves costs. When you need the ApsaraDB for SelectDB cluster again, you can start it. This topic describes how to stop or start a cluster in an ApsaraDB for SelectDB instance.
Prerequisites
You have created an ApsaraDB for SelectDB instance.
The ApsaraDB for SelectDB instance contains the target cluster.
The target cluster uses the pay-as-you-go billing method.
Usage notes
Stopping a cluster releases its computing resources, and billing for them stops. However, its cached data is retained, and billing for cache storage continues.
While a cluster is stopped, you cannot perform management operations, such as cluster scaling or restarts. The cluster will not respond to service requests, such as data reads and writes.
After you start a cluster, billing for its computing resources resumes.
Billing
Stopping a pay-as-you-go cluster releases its computing resources, and the related billing stops. This does not affect billing for the cluster's cached data or cache storage.
Stopping a cluster does not affect billing for its persistent storage in the instance.
Stop a cluster
Log on to the SelectDB console.
In the upper-left corner of the page, select the region where your instance is located.
On the Instances page, click the ID of the target Instance ID to go to the Instance Details page.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Cluster Management.
On the Cluster Management page, in the Actions column for the target cluster, click Pause.
In the confirmation dialog box that appears, click OK.
NoteStopping a cluster takes about one minute. The operation is successful when the cluster status changes from Suspending to Suspended.
Start a cluster
Log on to the SelectDB console.
In the upper-left corner of the page, select the region where your instance is located.
On the Instances page, click the ID of the target Instance ID to go to the Instance Details page.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Cluster Management.
On the Cluster Management page, in the Actions column for the target cluster, click Resume.
In the confirmation dialog box that appears, click OK.
NoteStarting a cluster takes 1 to 10 minutes. The operation is successful when the cluster status changes from Starting to Running.
