Deduction rules

Instance-level priority

ApsaraDB for SelectDB offsets usage with your purchased storage plans based on instance product type priority, region priority, and offset factor. Plans closer to their expiration date are used first. If your storage usage exceeds the total capacity of your storage plans, the excess usage is billed at the pay-as-you-go rate. For details on pay-as-you-go rates, see Billable items and pricing. The following figure shows the deduction priority for instances.

Note

In the figure, the Chinese mainland currently includes the following regions: China (Hangzhou), China (Shanghai), China (Qingdao), China (Beijing), China (Zhangjiakou), China (Hohhot), China (Ulanqab), China (Shenzhen), China (Heyuan), China (Guangzhou), and China (Chengdu).

Billing examples

  • Storage plan capacity equals storage usage

You purchase a 1-month storage plan with 200 GB of capacity. All your ApsaraDB for SelectDB instances are in the China (Hangzhou) region, and your total storage usage is consistently 200 GB per hour. The storage plan's capacity is fully used, with no excess usage. Therefore, the storage fee for the month is CNY 0.12/GB/month × 200 GB × 1 month + CNY 0.00 = CNY 24.00. Compared to using only the pay-as-you-go model, you save CNY 0.0003/GB/hour × 200 GB × 24 hours × 30 days - CNY 24.00 = CNY 19.20.

  • Storage plan capacity is greater than storage usage

You purchase a 1-month storage plan with 400 GB of capacity. You have one ApsaraDB for SelectDB instance in the China (Hangzhou) region with a consistent usage of 100 GB/hour, one in the Singapore region with 100 GB/hour, and one in the Japan (Tokyo) region with 100 GB/hour. The total amount deducted from the storage plan is 100 GB × 1 + 100 GB × 1.133 + 100 GB × 1.183 = 331.6 GB. There is no excess usage. Therefore, the storage fee for the month is CNY 0.12/GB/month × 400 GB × 1 month + CNY 0.00 = CNY 48.00. Compared to using only the pay-as-you-go model, you save CNY 0.0003/GB/hour × (100 GB + 100 GB + 100 GB) × 24 hours × 30 days - CNY 48.00 = CNY 16.80.

  • Storage plan capacity is less than storage usage

You purchase a 1-month storage plan with 300 GB of capacity. You have one ApsaraDB for SelectDB instance in the China (Hangzhou) region with a consistent usage of 150 GB/hour, one in the Singapore region with 100 GB/hour, and one in the Japan (Tokyo) region with 100 GB/hour. After the storage plan's capacity is fully used, there is an excess usage of 100 GB - (300 GB - 150 GB × 1 - 100 GB × 1.133) / 1.183 = 69 GB (rounded) from the Japan (Tokyo) region, which is billed as pay-as-you-go. Therefore, the storage fee for the month is CNY 0.12/GB/month × 300 GB × 1 month + CNY 0.0003/GB/hour × 69 GB × 24 hours × 30 days = CNY 50.90. Compared to using only the pay-as-you-go model, you save CNY 0.0003/GB/hour × (150 GB + 100 GB + 100 GB) × 24 hours × 30 days - CNY 50.90 = CNY 24.70.
