Simple Application Server supports unsubscriptions in various scenarios. Alibaba Cloud issues refunds based on the refund rules.

Important considerations

  • Instance and data are not recoverable: When you unsubscribe from a Simple Application Server instance, the instance and all its data are immediately released and cannot be recovered. Before you unsubscribe, you must back up or migrate your data.

  • Refund amount: Refunds are issued only for the actual amount paid. The value of any coupon is not included in the refund.

  • Violations: You are not eligible for a refund if you violate relevant laws, regulations, or the product's terms of service.

  • Promotional rules: If you purchased the product during a promotion, the promotional rules take precedence over the general unsubscription rules in case of a conflict.

Refund rules

There are two main scenarios for unsubscribing from a Simple Application Server instance: unsubscribing from a resource in use and unsubscribing from a renewal that has not yet taken effect.

In-use resource

You can unsubscribe from a resource in use in two scenarios:

  1. Five-day unconditional refund: You can request a full refund for a new Simple Application Server instance within five days of purchase. Refund calculation: Refund amount = actual amount paid for the order.

    Important

Each account is eligible for this type of refund only once per calendar year (from January 1 to December 31).

  2. Partial refund: If a Simple Application Server instance is not eligible for the Five-day unconditional refund, you can request a partial refund. Refund calculation: Refund amount = actual amount paid for the order - Amount for used services.

    1. Actual amount paid for the order: This is the cash amount paid for the order and does not include the value of any coupon.

    2. Amount for used services = (Original order price / Actual subscription duration) × Usage duration.

      Important

The usage duration is calculated in days from when the order takes effect. A period of less than one day is counted as one day.

Example 1: Standard refund

You purchase a Simple Application Server instance for one month (for example, a 31-day calendar month) at a price of CNY 34. You unsubscribe after 22 days.

  • Actual amount paid for the order: CNY 34.

  • Amount for used services: (CNY 34 / 31 days) × 22 days = CNY 24.12.

  • Final refund amount: 34 - 24.12 = CNY 9.88.

Example 2: Promotional discount refund

You purchase a one-year Simple Application Server plan with an original price of CNY 540 during a promotion. You pay CNY 68 and request a refund after two months (60 days).

  • Actual amount paid for the order: CNY 68.

  • Amount for used services: (CNY 540 / 365 days) × 60 = CNY 88.76. Because 88.76 > 68, the refund amount is CNY 0.

  • Final refund amount: CNY 0.

Pending renewal

If a renewal period has not yet taken effect, you can unsubscribe from the renewal order separately. For renewal periods that have already taken effect, the rules for unsubscribing from a resource in use apply. Refund calculation: Refund amount = actual amount paid for the renewal order.

Warning

If you upgrade the instance or perform similar operations before the renewal order takes effect, you cannot unsubscribe from the renewal order separately. You can only unsubscribe from the entire instance.

Example: A Simple Application Server instance is set to expire on September 6. On August 28, you renew the instance for one month (the new service period is from September 6 to October 6). You can request to cancel this renewal order at any time before September 6 and receive a full refund.

In the Original Order Details pop-up window, you can view the associated orders: the new purchase order has a status of Effective and a refund type of Refund for Remaining Value; the renewal order has a status of Not Yet Effective and a refund type of Full Refund.

FAQ

Can I unsubscribe from a Simple Application Server instance in the Alibaba Cloud app?

The Alibaba Cloud app does not currently support unsubscriptions. Please use a PC to unsubscribe.

Does Simple Application Server support a Five-day unconditional refund?

Yes. Each account can receive a Five-day unconditional refund for one instance per product within a calendar year (January 1 to December 31), unless there are security concerns, such as a single user holding multiple accounts. Alibaba Cloud reserves the right to reject refund requests deemed malicious. For more information, see Refund Policy.

Refund destination and timeline

After a successful unsubscription, your refund is typically processed within two business days. You can log on to the Billing Details page and search for transactions with the transaction type set to Refund to view the details. Refunds are returned to the original payment method by default. If a refund to the original payment method fails, the funds are credited to your account balance.
