You can resolve a domain name to the public endpoint of a Simple Application Server load balancer. This enables the load balancer to distribute requests for your domain name to backend instances.
Background information
-
If your domain name is registered with Alibaba Cloud, use Alibaba Cloud DNS to create a CNAME record. The record must map the domain name to the public endpoint of the Simple Application Server load balancer. For more information, see Create a CNAME record.
-
If your domain name is not registered with Alibaba Cloud, resolve the domain name with your DNS service provider.
-
If your domain name is already resolved and attached to a Simple Application Server instance, detach the domain name from the instance. Then, add the instance as a backend server to the load balancer. Finally, resolve and attach the domain name to the load balancer.
WarningAfter you detach the domain name, the Simple Application Server instance can no longer be accessed using this domain name. This may affect your services. Evaluate the impact before you detach the domain name.
Procedure
-
Go to the Simple Load Balancer page in the Simple Application Server console.
-
In the list of load balancers, click the ID of the target load balancer.
-
Click the Bind Domain Name tab, and then click Add Domain Names.
-
In the Add Domain Names dialog box, enter your domain name and click OK.
After the domain name is attached, the page is displayed as shown in the following figure.
