A notification policy controls how SLS delivers alerts — who gets notified, through which channels, and under what conditions.
When an alert is triggered, the notification policy manages the full delivery pipeline: it silences redundant alerts, deduplicates repeated incidents, merges related events, and dispatches the result to the appropriate notification channels — reaching specific users, user groups, or on-call groups.
A notification policy consists of four components:
|
Component |
Role |
|
Alert policy |
Defines the conditions for triggering, silencing, deduplicating, and merging alerts |
|
Action policy |
Matches incidents to notification channels and recipients based on alert attributes |
|
Content template |
Controls the format and content of notification messages |
|
Global default calendar |
Sets the baseline schedule for when notifications are sent |
