Short Message Service skill
The Alibaba Cloud Short Message Service skill allows AI agents to send messages, query qualifications, signatures, and templates, query delivery records, and perform statistical analysis. With this skill, you can use natural language to send messages and query data in agent tools like Claude Code, Qoderwork, Wukong, and OpenClaw, reducing the need to frequently switch consoles or manually format phone number files. This document describes the core capabilities, installation, configuration, and usage of the Short Message Service skill.
Prerequisites
You must have a RAM user with an AccessKey ID and AccessKey Secret.
Use your main account to create the RAM user in the RAM console and grant it both the
AliyunDysmsFullAccessandAliyunDysmsReadOnlyAccesspermissions. For instructions on creating an AccessKey, see Create an AccessKey.Apply for a qualification, create a signature, and request a template in the Short Message Service console, ensuring that all are approved.
Capabilities and advantages
Capabilities
Capability | Description |
Send messages | Send single or bulk text messages, including verification codes, notifications, and promotional messages. |
Query delivery records | Query delivery details and status by phone number and time range. |
Query qualification information | Query your list of qualifications to find available qualifications and view their details. |
Query signature information | Query your list of signatures to find signatures associated with a qualification and view their details. |
Query template information | Query your list of templates to find available templates and view their details. |
Delivery statistics | Query statistical data for messages sent in the last three years. |
Advantages
Conversational message sending: Instead of frequently accessing the console, you can query signatures, templates, and send messages using natural language directly within agent tools like Claude Code, Qoderwork, Wukong, and OpenClaw.
Simplified file preparation: Traditional batch sending requires strict formatting for phone number files and variables, where incorrect formats can cause task failures. With the skill, you only need to provide the path to a local file. The agent can parse Excel, TXT, and CSV files and assist with variable matching.
Automatic summary of sending results: After sending, the skill returns the success count, failure count, and a breakdown of failure reasons. It also lets you query delivery records and statistics by dimensions such as time, signature, and template.
Flexible data analysis: Unlike the console's fixed filtering dimensions, the skill allows you to specify statistical criteria using natural language, such as "summarize sending volume by signature for the last three days," "compare last week's sending to this week's," or "show this month's success rate trend."

For more information, see the official Claude Code skill documentation.
Unzip the downloaded skill package.
Move the skill directory to the Claude Code skills directory:
For global scope (all projects), move it to the
~/.claude/skills/directory.For project scope (current project only), move it to the
<project_root>/.claude/skills/directory.
Restart Claude Code to activate the skill.
OpenClaw
Unzip the downloaded skill package and copy the path to the skill directory.
In OpenClaw, enter the path and say, "Help me install the skill in this directory."
Wait for the confirmation message that the skill is installed. You can then start using it.
Environment configuration
Install the runtime environment
The AI tool automatically installs the required environment the first time you select the skill and ask a question.
Configure your Alibaba Cloud AccessKey
After the runtime environment is installed, configure your AccessKey to authorize the skill to access the Short Message Service API.
Obtain your AccessKey ID and AccessKey Secret.
Log in to the RAM console. On the details page for your RAM user, create or view the AccessKey. For more information, see Create an AccessKey.
Open a terminal and run the following command to open the configuration file:
open ~/.aliyun/config.jsonAdd your AccessKey to the configuration file, as shown in the following example:
{ "current": "default", "profiles": [ { "name": "default", "mode": "AK", "access_key_id": "<your_access_key_id>", "access_key_secret": "<your_access_key_secret>", "region_id": "cn-hangzhou", "output_format": "json", "language": "en", "site": "china", "auto_plugin_install": true } ], "meta_path": "" }Replace
<your_access_key_id>and<your_access_key_secret>with your actual AccessKey ID and AccessKey Secret.Save the configuration file.
Verify the configuration
After configuration, send a prompt like "list my signatures" to the Short Message Service skill in your agent tool. If it returns your signature data, the configuration is successful. If an authentication error occurs, check that your AccessKey is correct and that the RAM user has been granted the AliyunDysmsFullAccess and AliyunDysmsReadOnlyAccess permissions.
Usage
After the skill is installed and configured, select the Short Message Service skill in your AI tool and use natural language to send messages and query data.
Supported operations
Conversationally query qualification, signature, and template details to find available options.
