[Important] Real-name registration and compliance check for SMS signatures
To ensure compliance, you must complete the real-name registration for your signatures and the compliance check for existing signatures. If an sms signature is not associated with a valid business qualification, or if its source is non-compliant, we may deactivate the signature. We recommend that you promptly deactivate non-compliant signatures and apply for new ones to ensure uninterrupted message delivery.
Policy details
Dear Alibaba Cloud Short Message Service users,
Following the latest requirements from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) for the real-name management of sms signatures, carriers have recently tightened their controls on sms signatures.
Self-check procedure
Follow these steps to ensure your signatures are compliant:
-
Log on to the Short Message Service console.
-
In the left-side navigation pane, select .
-
In the signature list, check the signature status and carrier registration result, and confirm the following information:
-
signature status: Available-Normal.
-
carrier registration result: Registration Successful.
-
-
If the status is abnormal, see Solution.
Solution
Step 1: Prepare compliant enterprise qualifications
Purpose: Real-name registration requires a valid enterprise entity certificate.
Log on to the Short Message Service console.
In the navigation pane on the left, choose .
Check for qualifications that have a "Review Passed" status.
If you have active qualifications, you can proceed directly to the next step.
No qualifications or qualification review failed: Click Add Qualification. Refer to the Qualification Material Description to apply for qualifications.
Individual user qualifications: Individual users who apply for self-use qualifications cannot pass the real-name signature registration. You must apply for "other-use qualifications" or upgrade your Alibaba Cloud account to an enterprise account.
Step 2: Apply for or update compliant SMS signatures
Signature sources such as "Official Account or Mini Program", "E-commerce Platform Store Name", and "Registered Website" are no longer available. If your existing signatures use these sources, there is a high risk of registration failure. You must apply for a new signature that complies with the following specifications and immediately replace the old one.
Purpose: To ensure that the content and format of the signature comply with the latest carrier specifications and to improve the registration approval rate.
In the navigation pane on the left, choose .
You can check your existing signatures or apply for new ones. Ensure that they comply with the following specifications. We strongly recommend that you use "enterprise or public institution name" as the signature source.
Signature Source (Recommendation Level) | Signature Content Requirements |
Enterprise or Public Institution Name (Highly Recommended) | Full name: Must exactly match the name on the enterprise qualification certificate. |
Registered Trademark (Chinese) | The trademark must be searchable on the Trademark Office of the China National Intellectual Property Administration - China Trademark Network, and the trademark owner must match the enterprise name. |
Launched App (Not Recommended) | The app must be searchable in the MIIT ICP/IP Address/Domain Name Information Filing Management System, and the app's ICP filing entity must match the enterprise name. |
Step 3: Initiate registration and verify results
Purpose: To officially submit a registration request to carriers and activate the channel by sending test messages.
Trigger registration:
New signature registration: Click Add Signature. After the signature is approved, the registration is automatically triggered.
To register an existing signature, you can find the corresponding signature. Click Details in the Carrier Registration Result column. Then, Register with each carrier according to the Operation Suggestions. If the signature is not associated with qualifications, first click Edit Signature to associate the information. After binding qualifications, registration will be automatically triggered.
Track registration status:
On the Signature Management page, view the status in the Carrier Registration Result column. Click Details to view the registration status and failure reasons for each carrier—China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom.Verify registration results:
When the registration status for any carrier changes to "Registered, Awaiting Verification," you must complete the final verification. Specific instructions:NoteTest messages consume your SMS quota. We recommend that you perform only a small number of tests.
Use your own mobile number to check in real time whether the message is successfully received. Confirm that the message content and signature are displayed as expected.
If a carrier's registration status remains "Registered, Awaiting Verification" for an extended period, you can try to send a test message using a mobile number from that carrier.
Phone number to use:
You can use your own mobile number or a team member's mobile number for testing.
The mobile numbers must be from the three major carriers: China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom.
To verify the registration status for different carriers, you must prepare one mobile number from each of the following carriers: China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom.
Send to:
Recommended: Send test messages to your own mobile number.
You can also send messages to a team member's mobile number for verification.
Purpose: To verify the association between the signature and the mobile number by sending a message.
Verification requirements:
You must successfully send at least one test message for each carrier: China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom.
Ensure that you use a mobile number from the corresponding carrier for testing. For example, use a China Mobile number to verify the registration with China Mobile.
Verification results:
Automatic detection by the system: The platform continuously monitors the sending performance to ensure that it meets expectations.
Success criteria: If the sending success rate meets the expected rate, which is dynamically calculated by the system, the registration status is automatically updated to "Registration Successful."
Verification time: The system typically updates the registration status within 24 to 48 hours after a successful test message is sent.
FAQ
For more information about frequently asked questions about real-name SMS signature registration, see Real-name Signature Registration FAQs.
What is real-name registration?
Real-name registration is the process where Alibaba Cloud registers your real-name information with carriers for your SMS sub-port number.
How do I know if my applied signature is registered and can send SMS messages normally?
Log on to the Short Message Service (SMS) console, go to the signature management page, and check the carrier registration result column. If the result is Registration Successful, it means that at least one carrier has approved the registration for a sub-port number associated with your signature. However, because carriers implement real-name registration at different speeds, registration times for different sub-port numbers under the same signature can vary. Some carriers may not be able to synchronize their registration results with Alibaba Cloud. We recommend sending a few test messages to numbers from different carriers to check delivery performance before you send messages in bulk.
How long does the real-name registration process take?
The carrier real-name registration process takes an average of 5 to 7 business days. Based on recent observations, some carriers may take 7 to 10 business days. However, carriers do not guarantee this timeline, and the actual time may be longer. Plan your business activities and apply for the necessary qualifications and signatures in advance. Reserve enough time for testing to ensure real-name registration is complete before production use.
Why does the console always show "Signature Registering"?
Your signature and real-name information may not meet carrier requirements. This can cause a carrier to reject the registration internally without sending a result, leaving the status as "Registering" in the Alibaba Cloud console.
You may have just recently submitted your signature for registration. The carrier real-name registration process typically takes 5 to 7 business days. Based on recent observations, some carriers may take 7 to 10 business days. However, carriers do not guarantee this timeline, and the actual time may be longer. Please wait patiently.
