This topic describes how to estimate your resource usage and provides recommendations on purchasing resource plans.
Assess resource usage
To purchase the right resource plan, first estimate your resource usage by following these steps.
-
Export the detailed usage data for one month.
-
Log on to the Billing & Costs console.
-
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
-
On the Billing Details page, click Usage Records.
-
On the Usage Records page, configure the following settings.
Parameter
Description
Time period
Select the time range.
-
When you calculate
pay-as-you-go read throughputandpay-as-you-go write throughput, we recommend that you select a one-month time period because resource plans calculate cumulative usage on a monthly basis. You can only query usage for a single calendar month at a time. For example, you cannot query from February 28 to March 1 in the same query.
-
To calculate reserved CU and data storage usage, select the last 24 hours.
Product name
Select Tablestore.
Billable item name
The billable items for Tablestore include Egress Traffic, Reserved Read Throughput, Pay-As-You-Go Read Throughput, Reserved Write Throughput, Pay-As-You-Go Write Throughput, Data Storage, and Cold Storage. By default, all items are selected.
Usage specification
Select Tablestore.
Usage granularity
Select Hour.
-
-
Click Export CSV.
-
-
Download the detailed usage data.
On the Export History page, wait for the CSV file to be exported. Then, in the Actions column for the target file, click Download.
-
Use the resource usage data to determine the required plan specification.
-
Open the downloaded CSV file in Excel.
-
On the Insert tab, click PivotTable.
-
In the Create PivotTable dialog box, select the data range to analyze, place the PivotTable in a new worksheet, and then click OK.
-
In the new worksheet, configure the PivotTable fields.
In the Rows area, arrange row fields in the following order: instance type, region, instance name, and table name.
In the Values area, arrange value fields as follows: data storage - Average/Maximum, reserved read throughput - Average/Maximum, reserved write throughput - Average/Maximum, pay-as-you-go read throughput - Sum, and pay-as-you-go write throughput - Sum.
After you configure the fields, Excel generates the PivotTable.
NoteWhen you evaluate a resource plan for data storage, you must convert the data storage values from the PivotTable to GB to get an approximate assessment.
The row labels are hybrid (capacity) and ssd (high-performance). The final row shows the grand total. Use these statistics to assess the resource usage for each instance type and purchase resource plans accordingly.

Purchasing recommendations
Use the usage data from the PivotTable to estimate the required specifications. Longer terms offer greater discounts. Select a term based on your business needs.
