Resource usage optimization - Resource usage reports
Description
Supported products: This feature supports products such as Elastic Compute Service (ECS), Server Load Balancer (SLB), and Elastic IP Address (EIP).
Scenarios: For supported products, you can create analysis tasks to generate resource usage reports and evaluation details. You can use these reports for resource management, usage assessment, and cost analysis. You can then use the evaluation results to optimize your resources.
You must enable this feature before you can use it for the first time. Enabling the feature is free of charge. After you enable it, you are billed based on your actual usage.
Prerequisites
If you use a Resource Access Management (RAM) user to perform this operation, make sure that the RAM user is granted the AliyunCloudMonitorFullAccess system policy. For more information, see Grant permissions to a RAM user.
Enable resource usage reports
On the page, click Resource Usage Optimization - Resource Usage Report, and then click Enable Now. On the Hybrid Cloud Monitoring page, read and select I have read and agree to the Hybrid Cloud Monitoring Terms of Service, and then click Enable Now.
View the latest resource usage report
After you enable the feature, the optimization report for the latest analysis task is displayed by default. The report consists of two parts:
-
Scope of optimization suggestions: This part includes the report name, analysis period, and report generation date.
-
Content of optimization suggestions:
-
Resource distribution: You can view the distribution of all resources in the current resource usage report by product, resource group, region, and cost center.
NoteAll resources in the current resource usage report are the cloud resources within the statistical period that you selected for the corresponding analysis task.
-
Usage details: The usage details report is divided into three parts: resource distribution by product, usage statistics and comparison, and resource payload assessment. The following section uses an ECS instance as an example.
-
Distribution of Cloud Product Resources
This part shows the distribution of filtered ECS resources by resource group, cost center, and region.
Note-
If you filter by Cost Center, the Instance Resource Group Distribution is displayed.
-
If you filter by Resource Group, the Resource Cost Center Distribution is displayed.
-
-
Usage statistics and comparison
This part displays the average usage of three core metrics for the target resources during the statistical period. It also shows the number of target resources in different usage ranges and provides a reference usage level that is based on historical data and intelligent algorithms. For more information about the cloud products and metrics supported by resource usage reports, see Cloud products and metrics supported by resource usage reports. For more information about the calculation logic for resource usage comparison, see Resource usage comparison.
-
Resource payload assessment
This part displays the assessment results for the resource payload that are provided by the Cloud Monitor intelligent algorithm. Based on the resource usage, target resources are categorized as High Payload, Normal, Low Payload, Idle, or Unknown.
Some resources may be categorized as Unknown because of insufficient data. Currently, only ECS supports resource payload assessment. For more information about the resource payload assessment algorithm, see ECS resource payload assessment algorithm.

View all resource usage reports
On the Resource Usage Optimization - Resource Usage Report page, you can click Create/View More Reports to view historical analysis tasks. In the Actions column for a task, you can click View Latest Report to view the report content or click Download Latest Detailed Report to download the report. You can perform the following operations on an analysis task as needed:
-
In the Actions column for a task, choose . On the Reports panel, you can view the statistical or detailed reports for all tasks.
-
In the Actions column for a task, choose . On the Create or Modify Report Task panel, you can update the task details.
-
In the Actions column for a task, you can choose to create a new analysis task based on the current task information.
-
In the Actions column for a task, you can choose to disable the analysis task.
Create a resource usage analysis task
On the Create/View More Reports page, click Create Analysis Task. On the Create or Modify Report Task panel, enter the following information and click OK.
Manually created reports incur fees. For more information, see the billing rules for resource usage reports in Cloud Monitor.
The parameters are described as follows:
| Parameter |
Description |
| Task Type |
The execution frequency of the analysis task. Valid values:
|
| Name |
The name of the analysis task. |
| Description |
The description of the analysis task. |
| Start and End Time |
The report generation time for the analysis task. Valid values:
|
| Tag |
The tag for the resource usage report. Set only the tag key. The system automatically aggregates statistics based on the tag value. Example: An ECS instance has a tag with the key `App` and the values `Group1` and `Group2`. If you set the tag key to `App` in the analysis task, the generated report will contain two columns of data: Set up to three tags. Separate multiple tags with commas (,). |
| Product |
The Alibaba Cloud products to be included in the analysis task. |
| Alert Contact Group |
The alert contact group to which alert notifications are sent. Alert notifications for application groups are sent to the alert contacts in this group. An alert contact group is a set of one or more alert contacts. For more information about how to create alert contacts and alert contact groups, see Create an alert contact or an alert contact group. |
