You can withdraw the balance from your Alibaba Cloud account. By default, withdrawals are processed as a refund to the original payment method. If a refund to the original payment method fails for reasons such as account closure, you can submit supporting documents to request a withdrawal to a designated receiving account.

Before you begin

Ensure that your account has completed real-name registration and is in good standing. You cannot withdraw funds from a frozen or closed account.

You can initiate a withdrawal in one of the following two ways, depending on the source of the funds:

  • Withdraw by top-up amount: This method applies to withdrawing the remaining balance from your original top-up orders. You can request a refund to the original payment method or withdraw to a designated receiving account.

    Path

    Scenarios

    Processing time

Refund to the original payment method

The default method, used within the supported time window.

    Alipay/Online banking: Within 1 hour

Bank card: Within 2 business days

    Designated receiving account

    • The time window for refunds to the original payment method has passed.

    • The original top-up account is closed or cannot receive funds.

    • The company associated with the original top-up account is deregistered.

    • Funds were advanced by an employee and have been reimbursed, so the company will receive the withdrawal.

    7 to 15 days

    Note

The time limit for a refund to the original payment method primarily affects online banking withdrawals, which fail if the time limit is exceeded. Most banks support this type of refund for up to 180 days. Other time limits are as follows:

    • 30 days: For corporate online banking: Bank of Jiangsu and Bank of Nanjing. For personal online banking: Bank of China, Industrial Bank, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, Bank of Nanjing, Bank of Hangzhou, Guangzhou Rural Commercial Bank, and Bank of Jiangsu.

    • 90 days: China Merchants Bank.

If your withdrawal is flagged for risk, such as having an overdue amount in an account registered under the same name, it triggers a manual review. The processing time is then extended, depending on the review outcome.

  • Submit an application for non-top-up funds: For funds from sources other than top-ups, such as billing adjustments, refunds not related to account balance payments, or other complex situations, you must submit an application for manual review. The withdrawal is processed to a designated receiving account.

Withdrawable balance calculation

The system automatically displays your withdrawable balance. If this amount is less than your account balance, it is because the system has frozen or reserved a portion of your funds. This may include the reserved amount for pay-as-you-go services, amount of credit notes from refunded invoiced orders, overdue amount from issued but unpaid bills, unsettled amount from the current billing cycle, and transferred amount. The following table details these scenarios and their resolutions.

Item

Description

Resolution

Reserved amount for pay-as-you-go services

The system reserves CNY 100 to prevent pay-as-you-go resources from being suspended due to an insufficient balance.

1. Release all pay-as-you-go resources (such as ECS instances) that are no longer in use.
2. The reserved amount will be automatically unfrozen and available for withdrawal 24 hours after the last resource is released. The 24-hour countdown resets each time you release a resource.

Amount of credit notes

This occurs when you cancel or downgrade an order that has already been invoiced, resulting in the invoiced amount being greater than the actual consumption. The difference is the amount of credit notes.

Go to Invoice Management > Credit Note Processing and follow the instructions to use the amount for new consumption or to return the original invoice and have it reissued. The amount is then released. For more information, see Credit Note Processing.

Overdue amount

The total of issued but unpaid bills.

This amount cannot be withdrawn. Go to Billing Management > Overview to pay all outstanding amounts.

Unsettled amount

Consumption that has occurred but has not yet been officially billed, such as for pay-as-you-go services.

This amount cannot be withdrawn until the current billing cycle ends and the bill is settled next month.

Transferred amount

Funds received from another Alibaba Cloud account through a fund transfer.

This amount can only be used for consumption or to offset outstanding payments. To withdraw these funds, the sending account must first recall the funds and then initiate a withdrawal.

Calculation example

Assume your account has the following:

  • Cash balance: CNY 1,000

  • Transferred amount: CNY 500

  • Amount of credit notes: CNY 200

  • Overdue amount: CNY 300

  • Unsettled amount: CNY 200

  • Reserved amount for pay-as-you-go services: CNY 100

  1. First, calculate the total amount to be settled: amount of credit notes + overdue amount + unsettled amount = CNY 700.

  2. The system first uses the transferred amount to offset these payments, leaving a remainder of CNY 200 (CNY 700 - CNY 500). This remainder is covered by freezing an equivalent amount from the cash balance.

  3. The total non-withdrawable amount is calculated as: transferred amount + reserved amount for pay-as-you-go services + Frozen cash for outstanding payments = CNY 500 + CNY 100 + CNY 200 = CNY 800.

  4. Therefore, the final withdrawable balance is CNY 200 (CNY 1,000 - CNY 800).

Withdrawal procedure

In the Billing Management console, navigate to the withdrawal page using one of the following methods:

  • On the Overview page, in the Overview section, click Withdraw below Account Available Credit to open the Withdraw page.

  • In the left-side navigation pane, choose Account > Funding Accounts. In the Asset Information section, click Withdraw to the right of cash balance to open the Withdraw page.

You can initiate a withdrawal by selecting Withdraw by Top-up Amount or Submit Withdrawal Application.

Note

No service fee is charged for withdrawals.

By top-up amount

When you withdraw by top-up amount, the system automatically calculates the remaining withdrawable balance for each top-up order. This method supports a refund to the original payment method and withdrawals to a designated receiving account.

  1. On the Withdraw page, click Start Withdrawal. On the Initiate Withdrawal page, select a Withdrawal Account, view the Withdrawable Balance (Withdrawable Balance = cash balance - (amount of credit notes + overdue amount + unsettled amount) - reserved amount for pay-as-you-go services), and click Start Withdrawal.

  2. Click Withdraw next to a top-up order.

In the Alibaba Cloud Withdrawal dialog box, select a top-up order from the list and click Withdraw in the Actions column. For balances that cannot be refunded to the original payment method, you can submit a separate withdrawal application at the bottom of the dialog box.

  3. Enter the Withdrawal Amount. You can withdraw funds from a single top-up order in multiple installments, up to the withdrawable amount for that order.

  4. Select a Withdrawal Method:

    1. Refund to original payment method: In the Withdraw dialog box, enter the Withdrawal Amount, select Refund to Original Payment Method as the Withdrawal Method (funds typically arrive in as little as 5 minutes), click Send Verification Code, enter the received code, and click Confirm Withdrawal.

    2. Designated receiving account: In the withdrawal dialog box, enter the Withdrawal Amount (not exceeding the withdrawable balance), select a Reason for Withdrawal, upload the required documents such as the Withdrawal Application Form and a scanned copy of your business license or a photo of yourself holding your personal ID card, and click Next.

      • If you select Alipay as the Withdrawal Method, enter the withdrawal account and payee name.

      • If you select Bank Card as the Withdrawal Method, enter the withdrawal account number and payee name, then select the corresponding bank information, including Province/City of Bank, Bank Name, and Branch Name. You can search for the branch to automatically fill in the province/city and bank name.

Enter the verification code sent to your registered security phone number. After verifying the details, click Confirm Withdrawal and wait for manual review. Once approved, the system initiates the transfer.

      Important

Ensure that you enter the correct Province/City of Bank, Bank Name, and Branch Name to prevent withdrawal failure or financial loss.

If you do not receive the verification SMS, check your junk or spam folder, or try requesting the code again.

Non-top-up funds

For withdrawals in special cases, such as refunds or billing adjustments, you must submit a withdrawal application for manual review. If this option is not visible, you can ignore this step.

Click Submit Withdrawal Application, enter the withdrawal information, and submit the required supporting documents.

  1. Enter the Withdrawal Amount. You can withdraw the full amount or in multiple installments.

  2. Select Designated Receiving Account, select a reason for withdrawal as prompted, submit the required supporting documents, and click Next.

  3. Enter your Alipay or bank card information. Enter the verification code sent to your registered security phone number. After verifying the details, click Confirm Withdrawal and wait for manual review. Once approved, the transfer will be initiated.

    • If you select Alipay as the Withdrawal Method, enter the withdrawal account and payee name.

    • If you select Bank Card as the Withdrawal Method, enter the withdrawal account number and payee name, then select the corresponding bank information, including the province/city of the bank, bank name, and branch name. You can search for the branch to automatically fill in the province/city and bank name.

Note
  • You can also use the Alibaba Cloud mobile app: Go to Me > Costs to initiate a withdrawal.

  • If you are an enterprise user and have enabled the multi-account feature, the management account (MA) can manage and withdraw the balance for all accounts.

Withdrawal status

You can view all your withdrawal records on the Withdraw page. The Status column shows the current progress of your withdrawal:

  • In Review: Your withdrawal application is pending financial review.

  • Rejected: The application was rejected due to incomplete documents, incorrect information, or other reasons. Verify your information and submit a new application.

  • Approved, Pending Transfer: The application is approved and is awaiting transfer.

  • Withdrawal Successful: The funds have been successfully transferred. Check your receiving account balance.

  • Withdrawal Failed: This is often due to incorrect account information. You can hover over the question mark next to the Status to view the reason for the failure. Submit a new withdrawal application.

You can also go to the billing details page, select Withdrawal as the Transaction Type, and view your withdrawal records for a specific period. These records can be used as proof of withdrawal.

FAQ

Why is my withdrawable balance low?

This is usually because your account contains non-withdrawable funds, such as the reserved amount for pay-as-you-go services, amount of credit notes, and transferred amount. Refer to the Withdrawable balance calculation section for steps to resolve the issue.

Why can't I withdraw CNY 100?

When you have pay-as-you-go resources in your account, the system reserves CNY 100 to prevent service suspension due to an insufficient balance. If you need to withdraw this amount, you must first release all your pay-as-you-go resources and then wait 24 hours.

Is there a service fee for withdrawals?

Alibaba Cloud does not charge a service fee for withdrawals.

Handling failed withdrawals

If your application is rejected or the transfer fails, the system automatically cancels the withdrawal application. Submit a new application.

Topped up the wrong account?

Log in to the account that you mistakenly topped up and follow the instructions in this topic to initiate a withdrawal from that account.
