This FAQ answers common questions about using service instances.
What is a service instance?
A service instance is an alias for a real number group. It is primarily used for disaster recovery and improving the connection rate. A service instance is in the format 05710000XXXX.
For more information, see What is a service instance.
Activation and billing
You can create a service instance in the Voice Service console. After creating a service instance, you must bind real numbers to it before making outbound calls. The service instance itself is free of charge (you can create up to 50 service instances per account).
For detailed steps, see Create a service instance.
Creation rules
All real numbers within a single service instance must belong to the same enterprise and share the same qualified purpose. You must also configure a single call script for the instance to simplify number addition.
Real numbers from different enterprises cannot be bound to the same service instance.
Changing the location
The location of a service instance is determined by the real numbers bound to it. The service instance acts as a scheduler. When an outbound call is made, it selects a real number from the instance to place the call, and the displayed caller ID is the real number.
In the Voice Service console, on the service instance management page, you can configure the service instance in Configuration management. If you enable rule matching, calls are routed based on the location-based priority rule. If this rule is disabled, the service instance randomly selects a bound real number for outbound calls.
The default system policy for location-based priority is: 1. Prioritize numbers from the same province and city. 2. Prioritize numbers from the capital city of the same province. The system executes the rules in descending order of priority. The configuration management settings also include an Enable retry toggle.
Using a new service instance
A new service instance is a recently created but unused instance. Follow these steps:
-
Create a service instance: In the Voice Service console, go to the page and create a service instance.
-
Bind real numbers: On the Voice Service console page, bind real numbers to the instance.
-
To make an outbound call, invoke the service instance. The scheduler will select the most suitable real number for the call.
Moving a number to a different instance
On the Real number management page, find the desired number, and in the Actions column, click Bind Instance to assign it to a different service instance.
