This topic describes how to choose and purchase the right ApsaraVideo VOD resource plan for your business needs.
Purchasing
ApsaraVideo VOD provides a variety of resource plans, including ApsaraVideo VOD data transfer plans, ApsaraVideo VOD storage plans, ApsaraVideo VOD transcoding plans, and ApsaraVideo VOD content moderation plans. Choose a plan based on your required services, business volume, and region.

Before you purchase a resource plan, you must understand the applicable scope, deduction rules, and other information about ApsaraVideo VOD resource plans. For more information, see Resource plans.

Resource plans support stacked purchases, and the stacked plans are deducted according to specific rules and in a specific order. For more information, see Resource Plan Deduction Rules.

To use an ApsaraVideo VOD data transfer plan, you must select the pay-by-data-transfer billing method. If you are using a different billing method, you can switch it as needed. For more information, see Change the metering method.
Procedure

Log in to the ApsaraVideo VOD console.

In the left-side navigation pane, choose Overview. On the Overview page, click Purchase Resource Plan in the resource plan card on the right.

On the buy page, select a suitable resource plan based on your business needs.
On the page, configure the following parameters: Product Type (ApsaraVideo VOD data transfer plan, ApsaraVideo VOD storage plan, ApsaraVideo VOD transcoding plan, ApsaraVideo VOD content moderation plan), Acceleration Region (such as Chinese mainland, Asia Pacific 1/2/3, North America, Europe, Middle East/Africa, and South America), Package, Data Transfer (10 GB to 1 PB), Validity Period (1 month or 1 year), and Quantity. The 3-year storage plan is no longer available. You must associate an accelerated domain name with the resource plan before you can use it. The plan takes effect immediately upon purchase. You cannot cancel an active plan, and any remaining quota is non-refundable. After you configure the parameters, click Buy Now.

John wants to build a small mobile video news site. He needs to store video content and enable playback acceleration. To ensure a good mobile viewing experience, he plans to provide 720p HD videos. His users are in the Chinese mainland.

Playback acceleration
Peak daily bandwidth: ~1 Gbps. Estimated outbound data transfer: 0.2 TB/day, 2.4 TB/month, 5 TB/six months, 11 TB/year.
Video transcoding
General transcoding for H.264 LD (640 × 480) videos. Existing videos: 1,000 × 30 minutes = 30,000 minutes. Incremental videos (monthly): 100 × 30 minutes = 3,000 minutes.
NoteDifferent codecs and resolutions require different resource plan specifications. Calculate the required specification based on the deduction ratio of the transcoding resource plan.
Example: For 30,000 minutes of existing videos, if you perform general transcoding for H.264 SD (1280 × 720), you must purchase 30,000 × 1.5 = 45,000 minutes of quota. For more information, see ApsaraVideo VOD transcoding plan.
