[Billing update] CDT billing for Internet traffic from IPsec-VPN connections on Transit Routers
Effective March 1, 2026 (UTC+8), Alibaba Cloud will transition the billing method for Internet traffic generated by IPsec-VPN connections attached to Transit Routers (TR) to Cloud Data Transfer (CDT).
Description
CDT unifies network bandwidth billing and provides a free monthly quota of 220 GB for Internet traffic. Traffic exceeding the free quota uses a tiered pricing mode. For more information about CDT billing rules and discounts, see Internet traffic.

Regions that support CDT billing
TR-bound VPN connection instances in all regions have been switched to CDT public network traffic billing.
Change details
After March 1, 2026 (UTC+8), for newly created VPN connection instances (TR-attached mode):
If the instance you create resides in one of the supported regions listed above, its Internet traffic fee is settled and billed based on CDT by default.
After 00:00 on April 1, 2026 (UTC+8), for existing VPN connection instances (TR-attached mode) that are billed based on VPN Internet data transfer:
These VPN connection instances will be automatically upgraded to CDT billing by region after April 1, 2026. After the upgrade is complete, you can enjoy benefits such as the CDT free quota and tiered pricing.
Currently, TR-bound VPN connection instances in all regions have been switched to CDT public network traffic billing.
